ESPN President and Disney Media Networks Co-Chairman John Skipper resigned Monday, citing a struggle with addiction.
“Today I have resigned from my duties as President of ESPN,” Skipper said in a statement.
“I have struggled for many years with a substance addiction,” he added. “I have decided that the most important thing I can do right now is to take care of my problem.
“I come to this public disclosure with embarrassment, trepidation and a feeling of having let others I care about down.
“To my colleagues at ESPN, it has been a privilege. I take great pride in your accomplishments and have complete confidence in your collective ability to continue ESPN’s success.”

People who watch television for three hours a day or more are twice as likely to die in the next few years as people who watch little or no TV, a new study has found.
It’s the latest in a series of studies that show sitting still can kill you. But this one has a few twists. TV watching seemed deadlier than sitting at a desk or driving a car all day — and the effect was seen in relatively young, healthy affluent people. So it doesn’t appear that people were watching TV because they didn’t feel well.
“Our findings suggest adults may consider increasing their physical activity, avoid long sedentary periods, and reduce television watching to no longer than one to two hours each day,” said Dr. Martinez-Gonzalez of the University of Navarra in Pamplona, Spain.

A few years ago, we learned that too much TV might kill you sooner. Now, a new Harvard study is telling us excessive TV-watching could slash men’s sperm count, too.
The Harvard School of Public Health’s sperm study, published this week in the British Journal of Sports Medicine, determined that guys glued to the tube more than 20 hours per week had 44 percent less sperm than those who watched no TV.

A new study on sperm counts suggests that excessive

And then there’s this: Responsible person Charlie Sheen is adding another nickname to his list, but this one won’t get bleeped out. It’s Grandpa. Yes, the troubled star’s oldest daughter, Cassandra, is with child.Sheen’s ex, Denise Richards, was the one to announce the joy to the world via Twitter:
Cassandra, 28, is Sheen’s child with high school girlfriend Paula Profit, according to MercuryNews.com. The former (and future?) “Two and a Half Men” actor, 47, is currently dating a 24-year-old porn star, which could be fun for the kid in a bouncy-house sort of way.
