CAROL's WORLDS

A closeup of John Wick, wearing a hourglass as a "tie", with bullets flowing into the lower bulb inside the hourglass.

In Chapter 4, John Wick sets out to get revenge on those who left him for dead to find a way out of the High Table with their blessing.  In a word, John Wick: Chapter 4 is “VIOLENT” with lots of thrill and action but…
In New York City, John Wick (Keanu Reeves) prepares to exact revenge against the High Table while hiding underground with the Bowery King  (Laurence Fishburne). He travels to Morocco and kills the Elder (George Georgiou), the “one who sits above the Table”. In response, the Marquis Vincent de Gramont (Bill Skarsgård), a senior member of the High Table, summons NY…

Despite being the first licensed Black pilot in the world, Coleman wasn’t recognized as a pioneer in aviation until after her death. Though history has favored Amelia Earhart or the Wright brothers, Coleman—who went to flight school in France in 1920—paved the way for a new generation of diverse fliers like the Tuskegee Airmen, Blackbirds, and Flying […]

True Blindness

People are blind to reality and only see what they want to see. Blind belief in authority is the greatest enemy of truth. I’m not blind and stupid. I’m just in love. A mathematician is a blind man in a dark room looking for a black cat which isn’t there. The only thing worse than […]

CAROL's WORLDS

JesusRevolutionPoster.png
Jesus Revolution is a Christian drama directed by Jon Erwin and Brent McCorkle. Based on the book of the same name, the film follows a youth minister as he takes part in the Jesus movement in California during the late 1960s.

The idea of this movie intrigued me so I’m reviewing it hoping more people will see it. In my opinion, I think the story was very well told plus it is also based on true events.

In 1968, a staid yet respected Southern California pastor, Chuck Smith(Kelsey Grammer), finds that his church is slowly dying. One of the reasons is the ministry’s inability to connect with the younger parishioners in and outside the church. One day, his daughter, Janette (Ally Ioannides), gives a ride to a colorful hippie hitchhiker named Lonnie Frisbee (Jonathan Roumie), who says he is making rounds by traveling and telling people…

CAROL's WORLDS

Shazam! Fury of the Gods (2023) Main Poster.pngShazam! Fury of the Gods is a superhero film based on the DC Comics character Shazam. Produced by New Line Cinema, DC Studios, and The Safran Company. Shazam is distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, it is the sequel to Shazam! (2019) and the 12th installment in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU). The film was directed by David F. Sandberg and written by Henry Gayden and Chris Morgan. In the film, Shazam and his foster siblings fight the Daughters of Atlas.  I’m not a big fan of Shazam movies but I wanted to review it for those who are fans. After seeing Shazam, my opinions haven’t changed. Shazam continues to be silly but interesting.

Two years after Thaddeus Sivana’s defeat, Hespera(Helen Mirren) and Kalypso (Lucy Liu), two of the daughters of the Titan Atlas, break into the Acropolis Museum in Athens, Greece to steal the Wizard’s broken staff. The…

CAROL's WORLDS

Operation Fortune.jpgOperation Fortune: Ruse De Guerre is a spy action comedy directed by Guy Ritchie, and written by Ritchie, Ivan Atkinson, and Marn Davies. The film is about a spy, who must retrieve a stolen high-tech device before an arms dealer can sell it to the highest bidder.
I was intrigued by the trailers for this film, so I watched it with half-hearted expectations of greatness.  As it turns out, I actually liked Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre.

A gang of Ukrainian mobsters manages to steal a device known as “The Handle” with an estimated worth of billions of dollars. The British government hires Nathan Jasmine (Cary Elwes) to retrieve the Handle before billionaire arms dealer Greg Simmonds(Hugh Grant) can sell it to the highest bidder. Nathan hires super-spy Orson Fortune(Jason Statham)  to lead a team made up of Sarah Fidel(Aubrey Plaza), JJ Davies (Bugzy Malone)

«I ain’t got no heart to go and see the sufferings of my people played on the stage. I’ve heard ‘Uncle Tom’s Cabin’ read, and I tell you Mrs. Stowe’s pen hasn’t begun to paint what slavery is as I have seen it at the far South. I’ve seen the real thing, and I don’t […]

Interracial Wisdom: Unmasking a Secret Army of Karens in American History

As White men routinely raped Black women and girls, White women generally said nothing. They were well aware that their husbands fathered children by these rape victims. These so-called mulatto children were in many cases treated very harshly by the wives of the men who forced themselves on Black females. The women saw the resemblance […]
