President Trump’s speech at the 2017 Boy Scout Jamboree has drawn criticism from former Boy Scouts and current Scout leaders alike, with some comparing the speech to a “political rally.”
During Monday night’s speech, Trump referred to “this horrible thing known as Obamacare,” called for “more loyalty” and recounted the night of his election as “that famous night on television.” Trump also repeated his claims against “fake media” and “fake news,” despite commencing the speech by saying “we’re going to put that aside.”
While the speech was interspersed with applause and chants of “USA! USA! USA!” from the audience, Trump’s comments about Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton also elicited boos from the crowd, which was highlighted by users on social media.

A millisecond is a thousandth of a second, and a nanosecond is a billionth of a second, but there’s another measurement of time that makes both of them look slow.
Scientists have for the first time been able to measure something in a zeptosecond, or a trillionth of a billionth of a second.
Laser physicists in Munich fired an extreme ultraviolet light pulse onto a helium atom to excite the electrons, causing one to break free ― a process called photoemission. At the same time, they shot an infrared laser pulse to detect the electron as it left the atom.
That’s when it happened.

A new invisibility cloak for data can make information vanish by creating holes in time, new research suggests.
The researchers, who describe their work today (June 5) in the journal Nature, found that by tweaking the optical signals in telecommunications fibers, they created a way to essentially mask data sent between a sender and a receiver to outside observers. This isn’t the first time researchers have taken a page from Harry Potter: Last year, scientists also demonstrated a similar invisibility cloak.
But the new “time cloak” can create many time holes in rapid succession, which means masked data could be sent at commercial data speeds, said Martin McCall, a theoretical-optics researcher at Imperial College London who was not involved in the study.
.

Scientists demonstrate how they have have created, a new invisibility technique that doesn’t just cloak an object (like in Harry Potter books and movies), but masks an entire event. It is a time masker that works by briefly bending the speed of light around an event.

Before 2008, everything I did had something to do with mental health. I’m a neuroscientist, and I was all about understanding how we create our perception of reality, and understanding what’s going on in the brains of people who experience hallucination and delusion.
But then I gave a TEDTalk about my own experience with stroke. Within weeks of delivering that talk in 2008, my life changed and the repercussions still resonate loudly in my world. My book, My Stroke of Insight, has been translated into 30 languages. Time and Oprah’s Soul Series came calling.

Have you ever stopped to ask yourself, “what is time?” We all understand its passage intuitively, experientially. But does time actually exist? Is it a force of nature? A tangible entity? Or is time a human construct–an attempt to comprehend the incomprehensible?
I spoke with theoretical physicist and perhaps the world’s premier expert on the science of time, Sean Carroll, to learn more.

Is popcorn a health food?
Not quite, but according to a new analysis, you shouldn’t be so quick to dismiss its nutritional benefits. Presenting research at the American Chemical Society meeting on Sunday, Joe Vinson, a professor of chemistry at University of Scranton, reported that popcorn may contain just as many healthful antioxidants — or even more, depending on how you measure them — as fruits and vegetables.
