Well before the family came in to the Batson Children’s Specialty Clinic in Jackson, Mississippi, they knew something was wrong. Their child was born with multiple birth defects, and didn’t look like any of its kin. A couple of tests for genetic syndromes came back negative, but Omar Abdul-Rahman, Chief of Medical Genetics at the University of Mississippi, had a strong hunch that the child had Mowat-Wilson syndrome, a rare disease associated with challenging life-long symptoms like speech impediments and seizures.
So he pulled out one of his most prized physicians’ tools: his cell phone.
Using an app called Face2Gene, Abdul-Rahman snapped a quick photo of the child’s face. Within a matter of seconds, the app generated a list of potential diagnoses — and corroborated his hunch. “Sure enough, Mowat-Wilson syndrome came up on the list,” Abdul-Rahman recalls.

If you’re searching for the ultimate holiday gift, this 1962 Ferrari may be just the ticket — provided you have $55 million.
This eye-watering price tag vastly exceeds the current world record auction price of $38.1 million paid in 2014 for a red version (formerly belonging to British racing legend Stirling Moss) of the same 250 GTO model.
Yet according to John Collins, founder of U.K.-based Ferrari dealer Talacrest, which is selling the car, the less commonplace color of this model should make a difference to the price.
“The color’s striking, the blue with a white stripe — it’s original race colors and the race history on the car is really good,” he explained.

The sudden appearance of a Snapchat pop-up store in Manhattan on Monday created a stir of epic proportions amongst New York’s techerati, with lines snaking around the block as early as 4 a.m.
“The future is here (whether you like it or not),” wrote one social media consultant after snagging a pair of Snapchat’s recording-enabled sunglasses.

The $130 glasses, called Spectacles, are equipped with a 115-degree-angle-lens-camera that is able to record up to 10 seconds of circular video and post it to the user’s Snapchat account.

Women might make up nearly half of all gamers, but they still face routine harassment and abuse in an industry overwhelmingly led by men. They don’t need another reminder that the people creating their hardware barely register that they exist. But on Tuesday, women in gaming witnessed yet another boneheaded display of toxic masculinity, a poignant reflection of the tech industry’s gender and diversity issues: hardware company Razer apparently throwing shade at Apple by telling it to suck its dick.
That collective groan you hear is Twitter asking, “Are you fucking kidding me?”
The tweet in question reads, “You

Apple ships each iPhone with a bundle of preloaded apps. They can get the job done in a pinch, but most of them are not very good. This could not be more true for the iPhone’s Mail app, which, like most native Apple apps, mistakes simplicity for limitedness.
Email is a conduit for the activities in our lives — both personal and professional. The iPhone’s mail app doesn’t sync information and files from apps like Dropbox or Google Calendar. Having access to these platforms is vital for efficiently organizing responsibilities. To streamline that process, its best to turn to a third-party email client. But which one? The answer is clear.
Microsoft Outlook is the best iPhone email map by far. The Verge agrees with that sentiment, writing: “Outlook honestly feels like a next-generation email app, something that will force its competitors to do a lot of work to catch up. If you want full control over your inbox and the services that surround it, Outlook is your only choice.”

Microsoft’s getting quite good at design moonshots, creating product silhouettes that challenge our notions of what computing should look like. The large, yet astonishingly thin, Surface Studio is a perfect reflection of that still somewhat new skill.
As I looked over that all-in-one Windows 10 computer and a slightly updated Surface Book beside it in Microsoft’s pop-up product experience room adjacent to the hall where Microsoft Device lead Panos Panay had just introduced the new hardware, I realized I had myriad questions about both, but mostly about the Surface Studio.
I glanced away from the 28-inch glowing Studio display and spotted a familiar face. Ralf Groene, Microsoft’s head of industrial design, was standing alone, staring almost wistfully into space. The last time I’d seen Groene was almost a year ago and he was showing me two stuck-together pieces of black cardboard, the rough-hewn seedling for the product idea that would become the Surface Book.

Microsoft focused on the details for the new Surface Studio.
