Dr Greger suggests a diet change that reduces saturated fats. A vegetarian diet reduces the risk of fat storage that produces cellulite. So if you eat less animal products, you are healthier, thinner and better looking (less cellulite). Your choice ladies.

Doctors in Virginia made science history on Monday when they successfully completed a first-of-its-kind surgical procedure to separate six-month-old conjoined twin girls.
The 14-hour operation was performed at the Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU in Virginia, where the girls are now in stable condition.
A’zhari and A’zhiah Jones of Franklin, Virginia, were born as so-called thoracopagus twins, meaning their bodies were fused at the abdomen and that they had heart abnormalities.
The first stage of the Jones twins’ phased separation began in October 2012, when surgeons divided their shared liver, and then closed the girls’ abdomens back up.

Kirsty Allen was your normal, healthy young mother. Mom to Ebony, 6, and Adam, 2, the 29-year-old from Annfield Plain, County Durham, UK worked part-time as an office administrator. She was looking forward to a ceremony at St. Joseph’s Church in Stanley, where she’d be named godmother to her brother Karl’s 5-month-old son Austen. Tragically, that rite never happened. The family still gathered at the church, but under a much darker circumstance: Kirsty’s funeral.

Although breast cancer is rare in men, it can and does happen. Both boys and girls are born with breast tissue, which consists of a few ducts found under the nipple area. The difference is that at puberty, a girl’s hormones cause her breast ducts to grow whereas a boy’s hormones don’t. Because male breast cells are less developed and are not bathed in female growth-promoting hormones, they are much less likely to develop breast cancer.
Unfortunately, because of the common misconception that men can’t get breast cancer, when a man really is diagnosed with it, the cancer is usually at an advanced stage. Breast cancer occurs when the cells in the breast grow abnormally and divide more quickly. These cells form a tumor that may then spread to surrounding tissue, to the lymph nodes or to other parts of the body. The most common type of male breast cancer affects the milk ducts and is called ductal carcinoma. Another type, known as lobular breast cancer, affects the milk-producing glands and is much more rare because men have few, if any, of these glands.

The human body grows steadily from birth, and by the late teens the skeletal system has fully formed. Although you’re unlikely to grow any taller after the age of 20, scientists have recently discovered that some bones never stop growing as you age
.
In a 2011 study, researchers at the University of North Carolina found that the human pelvis continues to widen from the ages of 20 to 79. This means that even if you watch your weight and maintain the same level of body fat, your waist size naturally increases over time because of changes in the underlying bone structure. On average, the pelvis widens 1 inch (2.54 centimeters) between ages 20 and 79, resulting in a 3-inch (7.62 cm) average increase in waist size

Supplements such as fish oils and the memory-boosting herb gingko biloba do not prevent cognitive decline, according to new research.
But simple mental exercises, such as brain-training games, might help.
A review of clinical studies has found no evidence that herbal supplements, vitamins and even vitamins prevent cognitive decline in healthy older adults.
However the review, conducted by St Michael’s Hospital in Toronto, Canada, did find evidence that enjoying a challenging crossword or sudoku may be of benefit.

The typical Western diet, high in fat and sugar, really does lead to an early grave, new research suggests.
A study of more than 5,000 civil servants found those who ate the most fried and sweet food, processed and red meat, white bread and butter and cream doubled their risk of premature death or ill health in old age.
It adds to evidence that ‘Western style food’ is the reason why heart disease claims about fried and sweet food, processed and red meat, white bread and butter and cream in the UK – more than any other illness.
The findings published in The American Journal of Medicine are based on a survey of British adults and suggest adherence to the diet increases the risk of premature death and disability later in life.
