The sudden appearance of a Snapchat pop-up store in Manhattan on Monday created a stir of epic proportions amongst New York’s techerati, with lines snaking around the block as early as 4 a.m.
“The future is here (whether you like it or not),” wrote one social media consultant after snagging a pair of Snapchat’s recording-enabled sunglasses.

Facebook remains the most popular social media platform among marketers, but less than half agree that it’s actually effective, according to Social Media Examiner’s 2014 Social Media Marketing Industry Report.
Nearly 100% of professionals polled reported using the network in business-to-consumer marketing while 89% said they used it to communicate with other businesses. Despite these astronomical numbers, 57% of the marketers either don’t think their Facebook posts make a difference or aren’t sure.
Twitter came in as the second most popular site — 83% of marketers reported using the microblogging service — while LinkedIn took third. Only 28% take advantage of Instagram while a mere 1% have incorporated Snapchat into their work. The top six platforms have stayed relatively steady since 2012.

Looks like those ill-advised sexy pics you sent last month could come back to haunt you after all.
Snapchat, the iOS and Android photo-sharing app used by millions to send self-destructing media files, does not actually delete the files, according to digital forensics examiner Richard Hickman. This means that the application’s allure of guiltless sharing is not technically true, as pictures and can be retrieved, transferred and saved — if you know where to look.
“The actual app is even saving the picture,” Hickman told Utah-based news outlet KSL. “They claim that it’s deleted, and it’s not even deleted. It’s actually saved on the phone.”
