At first glance, Microsoft’s choice to introduce both regular and XL-sized Windows 10 phones on Tuesday might look like a desperate attempt to keep up with Apple and Google. But a closer inspection of what these new phones actually can do, however, will tell you that Microsoft is in position to take the lead in next-generation handsets.
The reason: Windows 10 Continuum.
Continuum turns your Windows 10 smartphone into a full-on computer you carry around in your pocket. Plug your handset into the $99 Display Box — a hockey puck-sized hub with USB ports and an HDMI screen output — and all the apps and documents on your phone will scale up to PC-size, ready to be manipulated using a full-sized keyboard and mouse.
The caveats: Continuum will only be coming to Microsoft’s new Lumia phones (set to be released this November), not any current Windows phones. And this trick will only work with Windows 10 “universal apps” (more on those in a bit).

Apple could finally offer some real competition to cable and satellite companies.
The Wall Street Journal reported on Monday evening that the consumer tech giant is planning to launch a web-based TV service this fall, with a small package of roughly 25 channels.
A TV service from Apple, which has been rumored for years, could shake up the TV industry, forcing other pay TV providers to drop prices, improve customer service and offer smaller packages to compete.

Apple stopped selling the iPod Classic in the fall, but people still really want those chunky music players. And they’re willing to pay a lot.
On Amazon and eBay old iPods are priced many times higher than they were originally listed, The Guardian first reported. Three thousand iPod Classics have been sold on eBay since Apple discontinued the device.

Aching for a bigger iPhone? You may be in luck, because if The Wall Street Journal‘s latest report is correct, Apple is planning to launch two iPhones with a larger screen this year.
According to the report, one bigger iPhone will have a 4.5-inch display, while the other will have a screen “bigger than 5 inches”.
Exact dates when these devices might hit the market are absent, but the 4.5-inch phone is reportedly near mass production, while the bigger device is still in “preliminary development.”
Contrary to a rumor we’ve heard in Nov. 2013, this report claims neither device will have a curved screen.
Both devices will be made of metal, and — the boldest claim in the report — Apple will stop producing plastic phones, such as the iPhone 5C.

It may be a little late to the party, but Rhapsody today updated its app to meet the looks of Apple’s iOS 7. Aside from going the flat route on the overall design, the application has also been improved with a number of handy features throughout. Listeners will now see a swipe-to-reveal menu (much like on Android), as well as a revamped radio experience which includes brand new stations from different artists and the option to thumb tracks up or down. In addition, this version lets you favorite any song being played, making it easy to access them at any point from the My Music section. If you’re a Rhapsody subscriber, expect more things to come to the web and mobile apps in the near future — the music service says it has “a lot of great things cooking.”

Most people know Sean Hyman from his regular appearances on Fox Business, CNBC, and Bloomberg Television, but what they don’t know is that Sean is a former pastor, and that his secret to investing is woven within the Bible. Perhaps that can explain why, despite his uncanny ability to predict precise moves in the stock market, Sean is often laughed at for his unique stance on investing. For example . . . a few months ago Sean appeared on Bloomberg Television. At that time, Best Buy (BBY) was dropping to all-time lows of $16 a share. Sean predicted the stock could go down to $11 a share, and would then quickly rebound to $25 per share, and after that would rally to $40 per share over the next year. Another commentator on the show actually mocked Sean for his stance, saying “$40 on Best Buy? If that’s the case Apple (AAPL) is going to $1,500. That’s the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard!” (Editor’s Note: At the time, Apple was trading at $650 per share). Within a few weeks, Sean would receive the last laugh.

As far as beach houses go, it’s rather ordinary. It’s not directly on the beach, but perched above, with views of Admiralty Bay captured between evergreens. Measuring just 1,144 square feet, it’s charming but not something expected to be owned by Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer, whose net worth spans nine digits. Ballmer announced Friday that he would retire from the tech giant in 12 months.

Though Samsung’s snarky ads like to make jest of iPhone users, while Apple’s just show how well various functions — the camera, the music player and FaceTime — work, new information from Consumer Intelligence Research Partners (CIRP) suggests those Samsung ads aren’t too effective. As reported by Fortune, the CIRP report reveals that three times more people switch from Samsung handsets to iPhone than the other way around.
The CIRP numbers also show that iPhone users tend to skew younger (about 69 percent are younger than 35 years old, compared to about 64 percent for Samsung), have more income (only 32 percent of Apple buyers have less than a US$50,000 income, while almost 45 percent of Samsung buyers are in that range) and are more educated (about 48 percent with a college degree or greater, compared to only about 32 percent for Samsung buyers).
