A former Pennsylvania high school teacher who died Friday allegedly published on the Internet a detailed suicide note that described his job loss and desire to leave “this Vile, Despicable world.
“Christopher Swanson, 41, was found dead early Friday in front of a fountain on the Mercyhurst University Campus in Erie. He was a former science teacher in Smethport, a small town located about 100 miles southeast of Erie.
Erie County coroner Lyell Cook has deemed Swanson’s death a suicide, resulting from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. According to the Erie-Times News, the coroner’s office estimates the shooting occurred between 2 a.m. and 4 a.m. Friday.

A 2-year-old Wisconsin boy who was found dead in the trunk of a car had the key to the vehicle with him, the family’s pastor said Saturday.
Isaiah Theis had that key and several other sets of keys with him when a deputy found his body Wednesday night, the Rev. Rick Van Gundy told The Associated Press. Van Gundy said he got the information from the Theis family but declined to be more specific, because of the sensitivity of the situation.
“This is breaking the heart of somebody who has a broken heart,” said Van Gundy, pastor of St. Peter’s Community Church in Dresser. “It’s that much of a devastation to them that you can’t even put a word to it.”
The deputy found the boy in the trunk of a customer’s car on his parents’ property near Centuria, where the boy’s father runs an auto repair business. Preliminary autopsy results released Friday said Isaiah likely died of hyperthermia – a condition in which the body temperature spikes – due to Wednesday’s blistering heat.

A Utah man driving a motorboat on Lake Powell was apparently distracted by his young passengers when he hit a houseboat and flipped the craft, leaving his wife dead and his daughter and his son’s girlfriend missing, deputies said.
Adrian Jackman, 59, of South Jordan, apparently tried to swerve when he noticed the moving houseboat but hit the front corner, authorities said.
The accident about 8 a.m. Thursday killed his wife, Marilyn Jackman, 57. His daughter, Jessica Jackman, 22, and his son’s girlfriend, Valerie Rae Bradshaw, 29, of Sandy, Utah, are missing in the water.
Crews brought a robot equipped with a camera to search for the missing women Friday in the 400-foot-deep water near Dangling Rope Marina. But they ran into technical problems and had to call off the effort, according to Denise Shultz, spokeswoman for the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area that encompasses Lake Powell.

Carbon monoxide poisoning is likely to blame for the recent death of an 11-year-old boy in a motel room and the deaths of a couple found inside the same motel room nearly two months ago, police said.
Emergency responders found carbon monoxide in the room where Jeffrey Williams of Rock Hill, S.C., died Saturday, Boone police said in a news release Monday. Investigators said a preliminary autopsy found the boy died of asphyxia, which happens when toxic gases cut off oxygen to the body. State medical examiners will conduct toxicology tests on samples taken from the boy’s body.
Jeffrey’s 49-year-old mother, Jeannie Williams, was rushed to a hospital and survived.

Drug Cannon
Drug cartels are known for being well armed, but this is ridiculous. Police in Mexicali confiscated a bizarre homemade mechanism consisting of a metal tank, a length of PVC pipe and an old car engine that was used to launch packages of weed over the Mexican border. The “marijuana cannon,” as they dubbed it, used pneumatic pressure to vault 30-pound cans of drugs as far as 500 feet to be picked up by runners on the other side.
