There is nothing like a biblical plague landing on your face to make you question the importance of importance of physical appearance. I was 24 years old when I noticed a massive knot on my face that caused my left eye to close slightly. I was sure that something horrible had bitten me and was equally sure that some topical cream and an antibiotic would cure it. But when my normally personality-less dermatologist sat down beside me, put his hand on my arm and said, “You are so young and pretty. I am so sorry,” I knew I was wrong on both counts.
At the time the plague descended, I was a trainer for a mid-sized bank, which called for me to present in front of people on a regular basis. I was also getting married soon… that special time in a girl’s life when you prepare for that walk down the runway that church folks call an aisle.

SUMMARY: A healthy baby boy was born using a new method of in vitro fertilization (IVF). Doctors hope the new procedure will reduce the risk of a rare but potentially fatal complication of traditional IVF.
Doctors in the United Kingdom hope they have found a way to make in vitro fertilization safer for women. They’ve discovered a naturally-derived hormone called “kisspeptin” that stimulates a woman’s ovaries for egg production, but the new IVF treatment is gentler than traditional methods. The procedure has already produced a healthy baby boy for a very happy family.

Two things humans often do: We anthropomorphise, and we dehumanise. Which is, if you think about it, a rather curious dichotomy: when we anthropomorphise, we ascribe human characteristics to inhuman beings, and when we dehumanise, we do the opposite, denying the full and equal humanity of other members of our own species. The classic example of this is someone who invests deeply in animal welfare, but doesn’t care about human rights abuses. Obviously, it’s possible to feel passionate about both, and there’s also the issue of compassion fatigue: There’s only so much we can care about before we reach a sort of emotional event horizon and start to shut down.

Atrial fibrillation affects both sexes, but there’s a higher risk of stroke-related death in women. Find out how symptoms and treatments vary between men and women.
Atrial fibrillation, also called Afib or AF, is the most common type of irregular heartbeat (arrhythmia). It’s also manageable and often curable. So why are women at greater risk from its complications than men are? According to the American Heart Association, more men are diagnosed with atrial fibrillation than women are, but women have a higher rate of death from strokes related to the condition.

A few years ago, we learned that too much TV might kill you sooner. Now, a new Harvard study is telling us excessive TV-watching could slash men’s sperm count, too.
The Harvard School of Public Health’s sperm study, published this week in the British Journal of Sports Medicine, determined that guys glued to the tube more than 20 hours per week had 44 percent less sperm than those who watched no TV.

A new study on sperm counts suggests that excessive

Several Harvard students received a racist pamphlet on Friday advertising a club to which ‘no f***ing jews’ were allowed but “coloreds” were “ok” the Harvard Crimson reported.
The pamphlets, which were delivered in sealed envelopes under students’ dorm room doors, advertised “Harvard’s Newest Final Club” i.e. one of Harvard’s 14 single sex social clubs. The club, called the “Pigeon” (perhaps a play on the Final Club propensity to name their establishments after animals) was ostensibly promoting a party situated in a local frozen yogurt shop. The attire was dubbed “Semi-bro.”
