Ahmad Khan Rahami, the 28-year-old suspect wanted in connection with an explosion Saturday night in Manhattan, was arrested Monday in Linden, New Jersey, after a brief shootout with police.
Officials suspect Rahami is connected to an explosive device that detonated in Manhattan’s Chelsea neighborhood this weekend, injuring 29 people.
Linden Mayor Derek Armstead told WABC that the owner of a Linden bar found someone sleeping in the hallway of his bar, and called police.
“One of our police officers went to investigate and to wake him up, and realized that he was [Rahami], the suspect that had been being sought in the bombings,” Armstead said. “He realized it was the suspect and, within moments, the suspect fired on him. And thank God that he had his vest on. And I think that was very helpful for him. I think that saved his life.”
After he shot the officer, Rahami proceeded to walk down the street firing a handgun, Linden Police Capt. James Sarnicki told CBS2.

On May 20, about 100 stock analysts gathered in the ballroom of the Hyatt Regency Hotel in New Brunswick, New Jersey, to hear good news from top executives at Johnson & Johnson: The company had 10 new drugs in the pipeline that might achieve more than a billion dollars in annual sales.
For 129 years, New Brunswick has served as the headquarters of J&J, America’s seventh most valuable public company. With consumer products from Band-Aids to baby powder, Neutrogena to Rogaine, Listerine to Visine, Aveeno to Tylenol and Sudafed to Splenda, Johnson & Johnson is the biggest and, according to multiple surveys, most admired corporation in the world’s most prosperous industry—healthcare.
But the real money—about 80 percent of its revenue and 91 percent of its profit—comes not from those consumer favorites, but from Johnson & Johnson’s high-margin medical devices: artificial hips and knees, heart stents, surgical tools and monitoring devices; and from still higher-margin prescription drugs targeting Crohn’s disease (Remicade), cancer (Zytiga, Velcade), schizophrenia (Risperdal), diabetes (Invokana), psoriasis (Stelara), migraines (Topamax), heart disease (Xarelto) and attention deficit disorder (Concerta).

In a New Jersey courtroom last month, federal prosecutors described Andrew Auernheimer as a publicity-hungry hacker who violated the privacy of thousands of iPad owners by disclosing their email addresses to a reporter.
A jury agreed, finding him guilty of identity theft and conspiracy to gain unauthorized access to computers. He faces up to 10 years in prison.

A New Jersey city that reported a murder rate of 46.8 per 100,000 people in 2010 is now without a police department.
Camden, N.J., often dubbed the most dangerous city in the country, is disbanding its police department in a bid to shave millions of dollars off the annual budget, FoxNews.com reported Sunday. The department will be replaced with the non-union “Metro Division” of the Camden County Police, which police unions in the area say is “definitely a form of union-busting.”
