If I could only do one exercise for the rest of my life, it would be the pushup.
Maybe you hate them or you think you can’t complete a single rep or you think being a runner (or a cyclist or a walker) means you only need to focus on your lower body. But it’s time to stop considering the pushup an arm workout and start accepting it for the body-altering, core-strengthening move it truly is. You don’t have to drop and give me 50; simply incorporating more pushups into your regular routine can help you reach all sorts of fitness goals, by helping you improve everything from your posture on your bike to your balance to your arm swing.

The gym can be an intimidating place for the inexperienced. But in some cases, it’s the overly confident gym-goer to be wary of. Fitness fanatics don’t always take the time to reevaluate their routine, learn new techniques or prioritize health and safety.
Try as they might to set the record straight, fitness experts can’t be everywhere at all times, dispelling efficacy myths or correcting form. That’s why we decided to ask them to share the fitness pet peeves they’re tired of seeing.

How I Gained It: Two back-to-back pregnancies, postpartum depression and binge eating to cope with my feelings. Every day was a struggle for me. I could barely keep up with my boys. I was always tired, out of breath and absolutely miserable. I was ashamed and embarrassed and dodged as many family photos as I could.
Breaking Point: My son Caleb took off running from me at the mall. I was so big that I could not catch up to him. I will never forget the panic mixed with that burning sensation in my throat. That was it. I made up my mind to do something about my weight because I had let myself get out of control long enough.

At 56, Bob Natoli is one of the oldest six-time Guinness World Records holders for feats of fitness. His latest record came when he lifted 51,640 pounds with an upright barbell in one hour. The Oswego New York grandfather is a fitness guru and recently created the “True Vision 4 Success” fitness program, which, while helpful to anyone trying to lose weight, is really targeted to post 50s.
