Lizzie Velasquez is one of three known people in the world who suffers from a rare syndrome, which prevents her from gaining weight and has caused blindness in her right eye. But the 24-year-old consistently redefines what it means to be beautiful.
Some experts believe the Texas native has some form of Neonatal Progeroid Syndrome, a condition that causes accelerated aging and fat loss from the face and body, even though Velasquez eats about 60 small meals a day, the Telegraph reported.
Less empathetic people have found more odious labels for Velasquez’s condition.
When Velasquez was in high school, she discovered a video of herself on YouTube that was titled “World’s Ugliest Woman.” It had garnered millions of views.

The Laboratory contains the formula for staying out of jail, in school and on the right path. Utilizing real examples, personal experiences and anecdotes, retired warden Howard Robertson de-glorifies jail and talks frankly about the negative aspects of being incarcerated. The readers are educated on the perils of gangs, drugs, bullying, dropping out of school, associating with the wrong crowd, making excuses and failing to set high goals for themselves. The major source of the information contained in the book came from adolescent and adult inmates who were incarcerated on Riker’s Island during the course of Warden Robertson’s illustrious career. The other source came from the hard knock experiences that Warden Robertson learned from as a young man growing up in a drug infested neighborhood in Jamaica Queens, New York. This authenticity gives this book (THE LABORATORY) real value.

Name: Liz Taylor
Age: 23
Height: 5’4″
Before Weight: 276 pounds
How I Gained It: I have been overweight most of my life. Growing up I was very active, four-wheeling trail in my backyard, jumping on the trampoline, riding my bike, exploring the woods. But as active as I was, I ate just as much, especially junk food. Cake, ice-cream, chips, candy — I ate it all, and I ate a lot of it. I was lucky enough to have a mother who enjoyed cooking and made homemade biscuits, macaroni and cheese, cakes from scratch, cubed steaks. However, all of this combined was not good for my self-esteem. Up until I was around 12 years old, I never cared about how I looked. My hair was almost always thrown in a ponytail, I wore baggy sweatpants and sweaters and had huge glasses. I was teased periodically for my looks, but it was not until I was a sophomore in high school that it became worse.
