For many reasons, Captain America: Civil War may very well go down as one of the more historic films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Not only did Civil War successfully adapt one of the more iconic Marvel storylines, but the film introduced two new characters to the MCU. The first, Spider-Man, is easily one of the most popular characters in comics. The second, T’Challa, aka Black Panther, may not be as generally well known — but he sure is important.
In February 2018, T’Challa will return to the big screen in Black Panther, a film that’s set to take place shortly after the events of Civil War. Only a few months later, Black Panther will suit up for Avengers: Infinity War, the culmination of the entire MCU to date. And with the character set to play such an important role in the future of the MCU, now seems like a pretty good time to delve a bit deeper into the history of the Wakandan king. tangie

It’s been a work in progress for decades, but scientists are finally close to perfecting the “artificial leaf,” a device that can turn sunlight and carbon dioxide into clean-burning fuels. The technology — a merger of biology, physics, and engineering — may one day be an important weapon in the fight against climate change as well as a vital power source, especially in developing nations.
Several research teams have approached the problem. At the University of Central Florida, chemist Fernando Uribe-Romo has developed a synthetic crystalline molecule that can trap carbon dioxide (CO2) and convert the energy from sunlight into organic compounds that can be used as fuels.

The big change in the new Senate Republican health care proposal is, as expected, an amendment that has the potential to undermine current protections for pre-existing conditions.
Yes, that’s despite the promises Republican leaders have made, over and over, to treat those protections as sacrosanct.
The amendment, based on a proposal that Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) has been promoting and tweaking for weeks, would undermine the rules on what and who insurers cover in order to make insurance cheaper. These rules, which include prohibitions on charging higher premiums to people with severe medical problems, are a cornerstone of the Affordable Care Act.

As unusual as a candy ring, these Fairy rings have more mystery behind them then one would expect. Large circles of mushrooms have been found, and researched, and science can’t quite explain them.
The fairy Rings can be found in woodlands or grassy areas and are almost always in a mostly-perfect circle. Their emergence has no ties to rain, drought, sun, clouds, or any other meteorological measurement; they just seem to appear.
There are so many scientific questions around these circles that it’s almost more believable to seek out old folklore and see if it has anything to say about fairy rings. Fairy rings have been described in folklore since the beginning and the rings are said to be the place where Fae and Fairy come together to dance.
These magical beings are very powerful and can be very dangerous so the ring of mushroom is to warn humans away from the area and possible danger. Science still can’t figure it out so until they do, it might be safer to not enter a fairy circle if you come across one.

Within the tiny stretch of land on Broadway and Seventh Avenue between 42nd and 47th Streets — only 0.1% of New York City’s total land area — lies a whopping 11% of the city’s economic output.
On average, 330,000 people visit Times Square every day, a mixture of 56% locals and 44% out-of-towners. To call it “busy” would be to call Celine Dion merely “capable” of belting out an F5 note.
But while the number of daily visitors continues to rise, for nearly a decade Times Square has quietly gone through a dramatic reinvention, all in an effort to make it more pedestrian friendly. And while it may look like an easy solution for the notoriously congested area, its decades of debate and planning show just how complex the restructuring of the most visited destination in the United States truly has been.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved a new drug on Friday that reduces the complications associated with sickle cell disease — the first drug approved for the blood disorder in more than 20 years.
The drug, called Endari, consists of L-glutamine, which is an amino acid, and is approved for sickle cell patients five years and older.
“I am hoping we are finally seeing channels opening, and that this will be the first of many new drugs to hit the market [for sickle cell disease],” said Dr. Alexis A. Thompson, head of the Hematology Section and Director of the Comprehensive Thalassemia Program at the Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago.

Grassley, R-Iowa, previewed his intentions Wednesday when he told reporters that he wanted former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort to testify before the committee as early as next week, following revelations related to Trump Jr.’s email exchange about meeting with a Russian lawyer regarding potentially damaging information against Hillary Clinton.
.
“I think it’s just raised a lot of questions. but the real way that I feel comfortable inviting him is ever since President Trump was elected,” Grassley said Thursday. “It seems like every conversation that has come from somebody in the family where there’s been some sort of issue, they’ve seemed always to be very, very open.”

The new Senate Republican health care bill is out. It’s basically the same as the old one.
New legislative language unveiled by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) Thursday does include some notable changes, including leaving in place Affordable Care Act taxes on wealthy individuals and giving in to conservative demands that health insurance be further deregulated, according to a summary.
At its core, however, the revised version of the Better Care Reconciliation Act ― which McConnell pulled two weeks ago because too few Republican senators planned to vote for it ― remains a vehicle for massive cuts to Medicaid, less financial assistance for people who buy private health insurance, and the return of skimpy junk insurance policies and discrimination against people with pre-existing conditions. Taxes on the rich would remain, but health care companies would enjoy a major tax cut.
