Three gunmen opened fire at police near Jerusalem’s holiest site on Friday, killing two officers, before the attackers were taken out by security forces, Israeli police said.
The gunmen arrived at the sacred site, known to Muslims as the Noble Sanctuary and to Jews as Temple Mount, and walked toward one of the Old City gates nearby, police spokeswoman Luba Simri said.
“When they saw policemen they shot toward them and then escaped toward one of the mosques in the Temple Mount compound,” Simri said. “A chase ensued and the three terrorists were killed by police.”

The Post raises the possibility of Trump pardoning top advisers, family members and even himself. Friday morning, John Dowd from Trump’s legal team called the Post story about Trump considering pardons “nonsense.”
.
But it is still a good question: Can he do that? To answer that question, I reached out to Brian C. Kalt. Kalt is a professor of law at Michigan State University and the author of a 2012 book entitled “Constitutional Cliffhangers: A Legal Guide for Presidents and Their Enemies.

Lawyers for Donald Trump, spurred by the president’s own inquiries, are exploring his power to grant pardons — to aides, family and himself — as a means of undermining special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 election, The Washington Post reports.
The Post, citing an unnamed source familiar with the queries, said the president himself had asked advisers about the constitutional power, although another source noted that Trump sought only to further his understanding of the privilege.
Trump’s lawyers are also looking into Mueller’s potential conflicts of interests, perhaps as a way of removing him from the Justice Department’s investigation, according to a Post article that cited several of Trump’s legal advisers.

George A. Romero — the writer and director behind the cult-classic horror flick “Night of the Living Dead” — died Sunday. He was 77.
Romero has been called the “father of modern horror films.” He died following “a brief but aggressive battle with lung cancer,” his longtime production partner Peter Grunwald told CNN.
Grunwald said Romero passed away “peacefully in his sleep” while “listening to the score of ‘The Quiet Man,’ one his all-time favorite films, with his wife Suzanne Desrocher Romero, and daughter, Tina Romero, at his side.”
“[Romero] leaves behind a loving family, many friends and a filmmaking legacy that has endured, and will continue to endure, the test of time,” Grunwald said.

Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., has been diagnosed with brain cancer, the Mayo Clinic said Wednesday in a statement released on behalf of the senator and his family.
Doctors removed a blood clot from above McCain’s left eye on Friday.
“Subsequent tissue pathology revealed that a primary brain tumor known as a glioblastoma was associated with the blood clot,” the Mayo Clinic said in the statement.
The Mayo Clinic said in the statement that “scanning done since the procedure (a minimally invasive craniotomy with an eyebrow incision) shows that the tissue of concern was completely resected by imaging criteria,” or cut out.

President Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner is also expected to appear before the Senate intelligence committee on Monday. A source told CNN Kushner’s testimony would be behind closed doors.
.
The interest in Trump Jr. and Manafort builds on already intensive congressional investigations. In June 2016, the President’s eldest son agreed to meet with someone described as a “Russian government attorney” after receiving an email offering him “very high level and sensitive information” that would “incriminate” Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, according to emails Trump Jr. publicly released last week. Manafort and Kushner attended that June 16 meeting.

The U.S. Supreme Court Wednesday cleared the way for a broader list of family exceptions to President Trump’s ban on issuing visas to people in six Muslim-majority countries.
The justices declined to put a halt to a ruling by a federal judge in Hawaii who said grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and siblings-in-law must be added to the list of close family members who can still get visas to travel to the U.S. during the 90 days while Trump’s executive order is in force.
The Hawaii judge said the State Department’s list, announced June 29, was too restrictive in declaring that only parents, parents-in-law, spouses, fiancés, children, and children-in-law would be exempt from the ban on visas for travel to the U.S. The Supreme Court ruled June 26 that while portions of the travel ban could be enforced, people overseas “who have a credible claim of a bona fide relationship” with a relative or organization in the U.S. would be exempt.

All these years later, all the changes in tennis, all the generations. All the changes in the world, really. And what do we get?
Roger Federer. Wimbledon champion. Again and again. And again, and again, and again…eight times now.
Federer beat Marin Cilic 6-3, 6-1, 6-4 in the Wimbledon final Sunday, and he was so dominant that Cilic, the 2014 U.S. Open champ, seemed to have a panic attack in the middle of the second set—crying hopelessly while he sat on a chair as a trainer stood by him, consoling and working on his blistered foot.
It was Federer’s record eighth Wimbledon title, record 19th major title. About to turn 36, Federer just went two weeks without losing a set and without being pressured in the most prestigious tournament in the world. There must be a few more records in that sentence.
