President Donald Trump fired off a new attack on members of his own party Sunday, complaining on Twitter that Republicans don’t “protect” him.
Trump’s comment came shortly after a complaint about the investigation into the Russia scandal, which he once again labeled a “witch hunt.”

Ray Phiri, a South African jazz musician who founded the band Stimela and became internationally known while performing on Paul Simon’s “Graceland” tour, died July 12 at a hospital in the northeastern city of Nelspruit. He was 70.
Mr. Phiri had been diagnosed with lung cancer two months ago, a family spokesman said.
A vocalist and guitarist, Mr. Phiri was known for his versatility in jazz fusion and indigenous South African rhythms. “He was a musical giant,” President Jacob Zuma said in a statement. “This is indeed a huge loss for South Africa and the music industry as a whole.”

The parents of terminally ill baby Charlie Gard stormed out of a pre-court hearing after a hospital lawyer told them their son’s new brain scan showed a “sad reading.”
The U.K.’s Press Association reported Friday that Great Ormond Street Hospital’s lawyer, Katie Gollop, broke the news to Chris Gard and Connie Yates, Charlie’s parents. Gard reportedly yelled “evil” and Yates burst into tears.

Chester Bennington, the ferocious lead singer for the platinum-selling hard rock band Linkin Park, was found dead in his home near Los Angeles on Thursday. He was 41.
Brian Elias, the chief of operations for the Los Angeles County coroner’s office, confirmed the death, in Palos Verdes Estates, and said it was being investigated as a possible suicide after law enforcement authorities responded to a call shortly after 9 a.m.
Mr. Bennington, who was known for his piercing scream and free-flowing anguish, released seven albums with Linkin Park. The most recent, “One More Light,” arrived in May and debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard album chart. The band was scheduled to start a tour with a concert on July 27 in Mansfield, Mass.

The Minneapolis police chief, Janee Harteau, resigned on Friday at the mayor’s request, less than a week after one of the city’s officers fatally shot an unarmed Australian woman who had called 911 for help.
Mayor Betsy Hodges said in a statement that “I’ve lost confidence in the chief’s ability to lead us further” and that “it is clear that she has lost the confidence of the people of Minneapolis as well.”
The fatal shooting of the Australian woman, Justine Damond, last weekend by Officer Mohamed Noor led to outpourings of grief in Minnesota and outrage in Ms. Damond’s home country, where the prime minister condemned the shooting and Ms. Damond’s family members have expressed frustration with how little they have been told about what happened.

Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump filed disclosure documents on Friday that reveal new information about their extensive business holdings and investments that could be worth more than $762 million.
Kushner’s document updates one released four months ago and includes some previously undisclosed holdings that comprise some of the couple’s most valuable investments.
His interest in Cadre, a tech company that helps investors crowdfund real estate projects, is worth as much as $25 million. Kushner’s prior disclosure form listed Cadre’s parent company and its value, but it did not break out Cadre separately. The Wall Street Journal reported Kushner’s stake in Cadre in May.
.
The new forms, which include separate ones from Ivanka Trump for the first time, also disclose the couple’s art collection, valued at up to $25 million. Federal rules require only the disclosure of art held for investment purposes. The couple added the art to the form out of an abundance of caution, an attorney who helped Kushner and Trump prepare the forms said.

According to the Post, Kislyak told his superiors in Moscow about two conversations he had with Sessions, which included a discussion on policy issues important to the Kremlin. Sessions was a foreign policy adviser to Trump and major campaign supporter at the time.

Sessions originally never disclosed any interactions he had with Kislyak, but a meeting first came to light in March when the Post reported that he met with Kislyak at an event during the Republican National Convention in Cleveland.

O.J. Simpson won his bid Thursday for an early release from prison after a Nevada parole board unanimously granted the request.
He could be out from behind bars as soon as Oct. 1 — but that doesn’t mean he’s walking out a free man.
“Parole is but one step out of the prison gate,” said Laurie Levenson, a Loyola Law School in Los Angeles professor and longtime Simpson case commentator.

The frozen bodies of a Swiss couple who went missing 75 years ago in the Alps have been found on a shrinking glacier, Swiss media said on Tuesday.
Marcelin and Francine Dumoulin, the parents of seven children, had gone to milk their cows in a meadow above Chandolin in the Valais canton on August 15, 1942.
“We spent our whole lives looking for them, without stopping. We thought that we could give them the funeral they deserved one day,” their youngest daughter Marceline Udry-Dumoulin told the Lausanne daily Le Matin.
“I can say that after 75 years of waiting this news gives me a deep sense of calm,” added the 79-year-old.
