Terrelle Pryor found a new home.
.
NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reports the receiver signed a one-year deal with the Washington Redskins for $8 million.
The 6-foot-4 receiver couldn’t find the long-term, big-money contract, so, much like fellow wideout Alshon Jeffrey, he settled for a one-year “prove-it” contract.
The former quarterback busted out last season as the Cleveland Browns’ No. 1 receiver. The big-bodied, athletic playmaker earned 1,007 yards on 77 receptions and four touchdowns.
While he has the size, hands and speed to be a top-shelf receiver, Pryor still must improve his route-running acumen. The questions about Pryor’s continued growth at the position likely left him with fewer suitors on the open market than more experienced players with his athletic skills might have garnered.
Pryor’s stats down the stretch of last season waned as he dealt with a hand injury, but it’s fair to wonder if some teams viewed the struggles as defenses catching up with the new receiver.

For what’s believed to be the first time ever, a senior NFL official acknowledged Monday that there’s a direct link between playing football and developing degenerative brain disease — a significant shift in the discussion over head trauma caused by America’s most popular sport.
Jeff Miller, the NFL’s executive vice president for health and safety policy, acknowledged the connection during a roundtable discussion convened by the House Government and Commerce Committee, which is investigating concussions in the military, sports and other dangerous pursuits.
Asked by Rep. Jan Schakowsky, D-Illinois, whether he believed “there is a link between football and degenerative brain disorders” like chronic traumatic encephalopathy, or CTE, Miller noted research by Dr. Ann McKee of Boston University and said: “Certainly, Dr. McKee’s research shows that a number of retired NFL players were diagnosed with CTE, so the answer to that question is certainly yes.”

The NFL announced on Monday that it has suspended New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady without pay for the first four games of the 2015 regular season for conduct related to the team’s “deflategate” controversy.
In a letter sent to Brady and provided to the press, NFL Executive Vice President of Football Operations Troy Vincent said the quarterback hindered the investigation by refusing to “cooperate fully and candidly” with the investigators.
“Your actions as set forth in the report clearly constitute conduct detrimental to the integrity of and public confidence in the game of professional football,” he said.

The NFL has determined that the New England Patriots used deflated footballs during its win over the Indianapolis Colts in the AFC Championship game on Sunday night, according to multiple reports.
Both ESPN and The Boston Globe reported late Tuesday that 11 of the 12 footballs used by the Patriots in the 45-7 victory were under-inflated. While league rules require footballs to be inflated to between 12.5 and 13.5 pounds per square inch, ESPN reported that the game balls were 2 pounds short.
However, NFL executive vice president for football operations Troy Vincent told The Associated Press the “investigation is currently underway and we’re still awaiting findings.”

For Russell Wilson’s Seattle Seahawks to become the first team in a decade to win consecutive Super Bowls, they’ll have to beat the most recent group to do it, Tom Brady’s New England Patriots.
In an enticing matchup pitting the defending champions against the dominant NFL franchise of the 2000s, the NFC’s Seahawks (14-4) will face the AFC’s Patriots (14-4) in the title game at Glendale, Arizona, in two weeks.
New England reached its eighth Super Bowl, equaling the Dallas Cowboys and Pittsburgh Steelers for most in league history. It’s the sixth time quarterback Brady and coach Bill Belichick made it in the past 14 years; they won trophies after the 2001, 2003 and 2004 seasons.

Saturday night could have been a moment for Sam Berns to celebrate — standing in the middle of Gillette Stadium, flanked by some of his beloved New England Patriots, and no doubt cheered heartily by the nearly 70,000 fans surrounding him.
But it wasn’t to be.
Instead of having Berns as an honorary captain in their NFL playoff with the Indianapolis Colts, the Patriots held a moment of silence for the young man who inspired them and many others as he lived with progeria, which causes premature, accelerated aging.
“Do it for Sammy!” one man yelled, piercing the quiet, in video of the ceremony on Boston.com.
Berns died Friday evening due to complications from the rare genetic disease, according to the Progeria Research Foundation.

The recovery of Robert Griffin III continues to get rave reviews from his orthopedic surgeon, Dr. James Andrews.
Last month at the Scouting Combine, Andrews said Griffin’s recovery from torn anterior cruciate and lateral collateral ligaments in his right knee was “way ahead of schedule.”
Then, in an interview with ESPN’s Stephania Bell on Friday, Andrews described Griffin as “superhuman” in his ability and motivation to recover. Andrews put South Carolina running back Marcus Lattimore in the same category. Lattimore hopes to get drafted next month as he rehabs from a second torn ACL.
Andrews compared the rehabs of Griffin and Lattimore to those of Bo Jackson and Adrian Peterson.
