A headless robot dubbed “Cheetah” has set a new world speed record, according to its owners.

The US Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency said the four-legged machine achieved 18mph (29km/h) on a laboratory treadmill.

28-year-old David Nelson is being called a true American hero after he gave his life for a young girl. He was visiting a friend in Detroit when a car drove up and began shooting at a 12-year-old girl. He pulled her out of the way but ended up getting shot himself.

Nail polish remover might not be as ubiquitous as, say, vinegar. But, if you have a bottle hanging out underneath the bathroom sink, you’re in luck: You can use this beauty product on a bunch of uses around the house. Many deep-sea squid dispel an ink cloud to flee a predator, but one species goes a step farther: It ensures a getaway by counterattacking and then ditching the tips of its arms. These detached bits can continue to twitch and emit bioluminescent light—likely providing a vital distraction. By catching this strange maneuver on camera, scientists have established Octopoteuthis deletron as the only known squid to drop portions of its arms in self-defense, much as lizards drop their tails before escaping.

Prosecutors said Alexander Olivieri, 19, shot and killed a 17-year-old girl to keep her from telling people about a drive-by shooting.

Lawyers for the state said Bridgett Frisbie was killed “execution style,” with a bullet to the back of the head, after Olivieri and another teen led the girl into the Katy, Texas woods in Spring, 2011, the Houston Chronicle reports.

Bridgett Frisbie, 17, was killed in the spring of

2011, when Alexander Olivieri allegedly

murdered her “execution style.”

George Dennehy was born without arms, but he plays guitar like a pro. How? The 18-year-old from Ashland, Virginia uses his feet. Last month, Dennehy uploaded his performance of “Iris” by The Goo Goo Dolls to YouTube. The performance was recorded during the Ashland Strawberry Faire; Dennehy is a 2012 Strawberry Faire Scholarship recipient. The video collected only a small number of views, until Dennehy posted the link on Reddit and it shot to the front page of the site in less than 24 hours.
