Two-time NBA MVP Stephen Curry has agreed to a five-year, $201 million extension — the richest contract in league history — with the Golden State Warriors, his agent Jeff Austin of Octagon told ESPN.
Curry is the first NBA star who will sign a supermax contract, the crossing of a $200 million threshold that eventually will become the norm for the NBA’s biggest superstars.
Golden State general manager Bob Myers said Friday that the Warriors will finalize the contract once the free-agency moratorium ends Thursday.
An eight-year veteran, Curry has been the foundational star for the Warriors, who recently won their second NBA championship in three years.

The most dramatic play of the Pinstripe Bowl apparently didn’t happen on the field. Perhaps more surprisingly, it was made by player who hasn’t appeared in a college football game since the 2000 season.
ESPN’s Chris Fowler tweeted that his partner in the broadcast booth, former Florida quarterback Jesse Palmer, saved his life with the Heimlich maneuver during halftime of the college football bowl game in New York City. Fowler and Palmer were at Yankee Stadium on Saturday calling the game between Notre Dame and Rutgers.

The recovery of Robert Griffin III continues to get rave reviews from his orthopedic surgeon, Dr. James Andrews.
Last month at the Scouting Combine, Andrews said Griffin’s recovery from torn anterior cruciate and lateral collateral ligaments in his right knee was “way ahead of schedule.”
Then, in an interview with ESPN’s Stephania Bell on Friday, Andrews described Griffin as “superhuman” in his ability and motivation to recover. Andrews put South Carolina running back Marcus Lattimore in the same category. Lattimore hopes to get drafted next month as he rehabs from a second torn ACL.
Andrews compared the rehabs of Griffin and Lattimore to those of Bo Jackson and Adrian Peterson.
