Men going thin on top may be more likely to have heart problems than their friends with a full head of hair, according to researchers in Japan.
Their study of nearly 37,000 people, published in the online journal BMJ Open, said balding men were 32% more likely to have coronary heart disease.
However, the researchers said the risks were less than for smoking or obesity.
The British Heart Foundation said men should focus on their waistline, not their hairline.
A shifting hairline is a fact of life for many men. Half have thinning hair by their 50s and 80% have some hair loss by the age of 70.

The way food is cooked may be one key to understanding aging and disease.
Chemicals called advanced glycation end-products (AGEs) are garnering more attention from scientists intent on finding ways to reverse the diabetes epidemic. AGEs occur in low amounts naturally in the body, but they also come from food.
The most popular methods of cooking today — grilling, baking, and frying — release more AGEs, and AGEs lead to more inflammation, disease, and aging. According to studies, reduce the amount of AGEs in your food can improve insulin resistance in type 2 diabetics in just a few months.

I’ve got to be honest: when I think of leprosy, I think of Jesus. Often regarded as a vestige from a bygone era, I was surprised to learn (from a reader, in fact) that leprosy still afflicts nearly two million people worldwide. We now call it Hansen’s disease, but referring to it by its pseudonym has done little to dispel myths or stigma surrounding this ancient affliction.
