28-year-old David Nelson is being called a true American hero after he gave his life for a young girl. He was visiting a friend in Detroit when a car drove up and began shooting at a 12-year-old girl. He pulled her out of the way but ended up getting shot himself.

It’s an era in which older workers do what they can to hide their age on their resume out of fear of age discrimination.
But if you’re applying to Vita Needle, the Needham, Mass.-based, needle manufacturer, the hiring managers would consider it an asset if you remember what it’s like to use a typewriter or where you were when John F. Kennedy was shot. Older workers are “loyal,” an exec says, noting that the company prefers hiring gray-haired workers.

A Georgia woman’s heartwarming act is making headlines this week, poignantly proving the power of kindness, even between two strangers.
Branden Whitehead, a 20-year-old college student, was walking home from school last month when he was struck and critically injured in a hit and run accident, MyFoxAtlanta.com reported. The West Georgia Technical College student walks 15 miles to and from school, carrying a heavy bag of books–the trek takes four and a half hours.

Nail polish remover might not be as ubiquitous as, say, vinegar. But, if you have a bottle hanging out underneath the bathroom sink, you’re in luck: You can use this beauty product on a bunch of uses around the house. Though the 100% acetone formula is preferable, these tips will also work with non-acetone versions. Here are my favorite other uses for nail polish remover.

ELLICOTT CITY, Md. — They were seemingly ordinary tweets from two friends hanging out on a railroad bridge in their hometown, enjoying one last summer night together before heading back to college.
“Drinking on top of the Ellicott City sign,” read one. “Looking down on old ec,” read another. Accompanying photos showed their view from the bridge and their bare feet, one with painted blue toenails, dangling over the edge. “Levitating,” read another tweet.

With East Africa facing its worst drought in 60 years, affecting more than 11 million people, the United Nations has declared a famine in the region for the first time in a generation. Overcrowded refugee camps in Kenya and Ethiopia are receiving some 3,000 new refugees every day, as families flee from famine-stricken and war-torn areas. The meager food and water that used to support millions in the Horn of Africa is disappearing rapidly, and families strong enough to flee for survival must travel up to a hundred miles, often on foot, hoping to make it to a refugee center, seeking food and aid. Many do not survive the trip. Officials warn that 800,000 children could die of malnutrition across the East African nations of Somalia, Ethiopia, Eritrea, and Kenya. Aid agencies are frustrated by many crippling situations: the slow response of Western governments, local governments and terrorist groups blocking access, terrorist and bandit attacks, and anti-terrorism laws that restrict who the aid groups can deal with — not to mention the massive scale of the current crisis. Below are a few images from the past several weeks in East Africa.
.
Lamentations 4:9
9 Those killed by the sword are better off
than those who die of hunger.
Starving, they waste away
for lack of food from the fields.
.
Millions of East Africans are suffering and need all the help they can get.
The US is also, suffering a drought, lets hope it doesn’t get this bad.
