Pamela Buttery noticed something peculiar six years ago while practicing golf putting in her 57th-floor apartment at the luxurious Millennium Tower. The ball kept veering to the same corner of her living room.
Those were the first signs for residents of the sleek, mirrored high-rise that something was wrong.
The 58-story building has gained notoriety in recent weeks as the “leaning tower of San Francisco.” But it’s not just leaning. It’s sinking too. And engineers hired to assess the problem say it shows no immediate sign of stopping.
“What concerns me most is the tilting,” says Buttery, 76, a retired real estate developer. “Is it safe to stay here? For how long?”

A 41-year-old California man has been sentenced to 1,503 years in prison for raping his teenage daughter over four years.
A Fresno judge handed down the extraordinary life sentence to Rene Lopez on Friday, making it the longest-known sentence in Fresno Superior Court’s history, The Fresno Bee reported.
In September, Lopez was convicted of 185 counts of felony rape and one count of felony forcible oral copulation. He pleaded not guilty to all of the charges, records show.
Judge Edward Sarkisian Jr. called Lopez a “serious danger to society” and noted that he never showed remorse for his actions. Instead, he blamed his daughter, the Bee reported.

A photograph of Donald Trump, Muhammad Ali and Rosa Parks that the founder of Trump’s “diversity coalition” hailed as evidence the Republican nominee won an “NAACP medal” for “helping America’s inner cities” was actually taken at an awards ceremony organized by a business associate with an ethnic grievance.
William Fugazy, a politically well-connected businessman who later pleaded guilty to perjury, gave the awards to Trump and 79 other people, most of them white, to protest the awarding of “medals of liberty” to a group of 12 recent immigrants that included a Chinese-born architect, a Costa Rica-born astronaut, a leading expert on the psychology of race, and former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, but no “Irish, Italian, or Polish” people.
Michael Cohen, Trump’s longtime attorney, adviser and campaign surrogate, posted the photo on Twitter earlier this week of Trump, Parks and Ali, “receiving NAACP medals for helping America’s inner cities. A man for ALL people!”

Jeanne Louise Calment had the longest confirmed human Lifespan on record: 122 years and 164 days.
It seems that fate strongly approved of the way Madam Calment lived her life. Jeanne was born in Arles, France, on 21st February 1875.
When the Eiffel Tower was built, she was 14 years old.
It was at this time that she met Vincent van Gogh.
’He was dirty, badly dressed and disagreeable’ she recalled in an interview given in 1988. When she was 85, she took up fencing, and she was still riding on her bike when she reached 100.
When Jeanne was 114, she starred in a film about her life;
At 115 she had an operation on her hip, and at 117 she gave up smoking (having started at the age of 21 in 1896).
Apparently, she didn’t give up for health reasons,
But because she didn’t like having to ask someone to help her light a cigarette once she’d becoming almost blind. In 1965, Jeanne was 90 years old and had no heirs.
She signed a deal to sell her apartment to a 47-year-old lawyer called André-François Raffray.
He agreed to pay her a monthly sum of 2,500 francs on the condition that he would inherit her apartment after she died.
However, Raffray not only ended up paying Jeanne for 30 years, but died before she did at the age of 77.
His widow was legally obliged to continue paying Madam Calment. Until the end of her days, Jeanne retained sharp mental faculties.
When she was asked on her 120th birthday what kind of future she expected to have, she replied: ’a very short one.’
Quotes and rules of life from Jeanne Calment:
’Being young is a state of mind, it doesn’t depend on one’s body. I’m actually still a young girl, it’s just that I haven’t looked so good for the past 70 years.’
’I’ve only got one wrinkle, and I’m sitting on it.’
’All babies are beautiful.’
’I’ve been forgotten by our good lord.’
’I’m in love with wine.’
’Always keep your smile. That’s how I explain my long life.’
’If you can’t change something, don’t worry about it.’
’I have a huge desire to live and a big appetite, especially for sweets.’
’I never wear mascara; I laugh until I cry too often.’
’I see badly, I hear badly, and I feel bad, but everything’s fine.’
’I think I will die of laughter.’
’I have legs of iron, but to tell you the truth, they’re starting to rust and buckle a bit.’
’I took pleasure when I could. I acted clearly and morally and without regret. I’m very lucky.’
At the end of one interview, in response to a journalist who said he hoped they would meet again the following year:
She told him, ’Why not? You’re not that old, you’ll still be here.’
Hours after Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo of New York signed a bill that would impose steep fines on Airbnb hosts who break local housing regulations, Airbnb filed a federal lawsuit contending the new law would cause it “irreparable harm.”
The heightened battle in New York follows lawsuits that Airbnb has filed against its hometown San Francisco and in Santa Monica, Calif., which have both moved to fine the company for illegal listings.
The company, which operates in a regulatory gray area around the globe, is also fighting tough battles in Amsterdam and Barcelona, Spain, which penalizes hosts who list illegal rentals, and in Berlin, which has banned most short-term rentals.

Jared Foran, an orthopedic surgeon in Denver, is a co-author of a new study called “Patient Perception of Physician Reimbursement in Elective Total Hip and Knee Arthroplasty” (PDF here). The authors surveyed 1,200 patients to see how much they thought orthopedic surgeons should make and what Medicare actually pays for a hip or knee replacement.
I did not expect the answers given in the article.

I am an orthopedic spine surgeon. I earned my medical degree from Masaryk University in Brno, Czech Republic. Here I also got my PhD degree in Biophysics. Initially, I have done General Surgery and Surgical Oncology training in Europe. In 1999, I relocated to U.S. I have worked as a Research Associate at Tissue Engineering Lab at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN. I love research as it makes me better physician. However, I missed interactions with patients and thus in 2003, I decided to return to clinical practice in the US, which required to repeat my entire clinical training. I become student again. I was accepted into orthopedic residency program at UCSD Medical Center in San Diego, CA. I have spent 5 years there. In 2008, I transferred to Cleveland to pursue additional training in spine surgery. I have finished spine surgery fellowship at Center for Spine Health at Cleveland Clinic Foundation. It took me only 16 years (or 4 presidential terms) to reach my goal – to open my own clinic. In 2010 , I have founded Advanced Spine Institute.
The underbelly of America has been exposed during this election process and it is ugly! It is composed of immigrants who stole this country thru avarice and corruption. These immigrants claim this country as exclusively theirs and are xenophobes, racist, misogynist who blame their situation on everyone but themselves.
Wake up before it is too late and you have started World War III and the apocalypse predicted by Hollywood comes true.
Love your brother as yourself and prosper! Can’t we all just get along?
In the world, human beings are facing various problems. People who are full of greed, anger, and ignorance are seen to be fighting with each other in words and deeds. As the fighting continues, various problems such as civil wars, wars of aggression, and wars of aggression are occurring. As world peace is being destroyed, humans are facing unbearable problems. Innocent children and women are not getting the rights they deserve and deserve. I can't think of one thing every time. What is it? The United Nations. If we look at the responsibilities and duties of the United Nations, I think it is not suitable for solving the problems that are happening in the world today. In fact, the United Nations and the World Security Council, such an organization must rule the world, must be able to give orders, and must have various ways to obey orders. There must be no organization that can influence more than that organization. There should be experts from each country. They can even dominate the superpowers like the US, China, and Britain. Only then will global peace be achieved quickly. Now, if a country with power develops more militarily, economically, or socially than its own country, then powerful countries will jealously seek out enemies and wage war. Or they will attack with fighter jets. In this, innocent people are losing their lives. No one understands the value of a life. You should think about how to achieve global peace by controlling these. If the US continues to be the permanent president of the UN, world peace will never be achieved. If you think carefully, no one sees that they are working for the common good, but for their own benefit, for the benefit of their own country. The permanent president of the UN and the Security Council has rejected this, As a young Rohingya, I have come to realize that only by electing the president and secretary from among the countries in the world through a secret ballot system and governing the world fairly can we achieve global peace. The United Nations and the Security Council are organizations in which any country must govern, give orders, and make them obey their orders. For example, only when a defendant is tried in court can we hold the leaders of the countries in check and control them, can we achieve global peace smoothly. Otherwise, it will not be easy for powerful countries to use various excuses to end this war every year, every year, for the benefit of themselves and their countries. No country's leaders pay any attention to the words of the United Nations and the Security Council. If we look at it in practice, look at the Rohingya issue. Myanmar is a small country. Even that country has been under siege for 8 years. What action can be taken? Why is the UN and the Security Council Powerless? Without such Power, how can the organization bring about global peace? Everyone should think about it. Whether there is a veto or a strong one, all countries in the world can only achieve global peace if they are subject to the UN and the Security Council. Seek peace in the quiet embrace of nature. Peace is an indispensable need of the human race. It is not as if one person can kill another person, and it is as if one country can attack another country, but instead of trying to build peace, we must try to destroy the peace now, and the world is getting hotter and is on the verge of collapse. I especially appeal to all the world experts to urgently try to bring about peace in all parts of the world. Mr, Noor Muhamed Arkhan Rohingya Youth Myanmar
