Whether you’re feeling a bit overwhelmed by lockdown ending or are feeling sore from sitting at your desk for long hours throughout the working day, yoga can help.
However, the practice can feel intimidating to those who have never done it before. Plus, not everyone has the time to squeeze in a couple of 90-minute classes every week just to destress from a busy week. That doesn’t mean you have to miss out on what yoga can do for you. In fact, just by working some basic stretches into your routine, you can start to feel all the physical and mental health benefits the practice has to offer.
Donna Noble is a yoga teacher and the founder of Curvesomeyoga, an organization that aims to make yoga inclusive, diverse, and accessible for all. Here, she explains exactly why we should start incorporating simple yoga stretches into our day-to-day lives, and which to try first. There’s no better time than today to start.

In rare cases, one of life’s important childhood lessons — always chew your food properly — becomes fossilized. And now, anyone can own one of these reminders in rock. A specimen containing the remains of a large, predatory amphibian choking on another creature is up for auction in October.
Nearly 300 million years ago, during the Paleozoic Era, this predator attempted to eat another, smaller amphibian. The larger creature died mid-meal with the smaller one’s body half-consumed. This type of fossil, in which a predator chokes on its prey, is known as an aspiration.
When a scene like this is captured forever by geology, the value of the fossil goes up, said Jim Walker, director of the nature and science department at the auction house Heritage Auctions. [See Photos of ‘Choking Predators’ and other Fossils for Auction]
“It affects it to the degree of eight or 10 times without any trouble at all,” Walker said. Heritage expects this specimen to sell for between $150,000 and $250,000.
The predator, in this case, is a 28-inch-long (71 centimeters) creature known as Sclerocephalus haeuseri. Artists’ representations of it depict an animal that looks like a cross between an alligator and a salamander, with a heavy skull and jaws, a streamlined body with a menacing-looking tail, and eyes on top of its head.
The resemblance to a crocodile or alligator is no coincidence. During the Permian Period — the last period of the Paleozoic lasting from 299 million to 251 million years ago — this ancient amphibian filled a similar ecological role to these modern aquatic predators, Walker said.

Just two decades after discovering the first world beyond our solar system, astronomers are closing in on alien planet No. 1,000.
Four of the five main databases that catalog the discoveries of exoplanets now list more than 900 confirmed alien worlds, and two of them peg the tally at 986 as of Sept. 26. So the 1,000th exoplanet may be announced in a matter of days or weeks, depending on which list you prefer.
That’s a lot of progress since 1992, when researchers detected two planets orbiting a rotating neutron star, or pulsar, about 1,000 light-years from Earth. Confirmation of the first alien world circling a “normal” star like our sun did not come until 1995. [The Strangest Alien Planets (Gallery)]
And the discoveries will keep pouring in, as astronomers continue to hone their techniques and sift through the data returned by instruments on the ground and in space.
The biggest numbers in the near future should come from NASA’s Kepler space telescope, which racked up many finds before being hobbled in May of this year when the second of its four orientation-maintaining reaction wheels failed.
Kepler has identified 3,588 planet candidates to date. Just 151 of these worlds have been confirmed so far, but mission scientists have said they expect at least 90 percent will end up being the real deal.

This artist’s illustration represents the variety of planets being detected by NASA’s Kepler spacecraft. Scientists now say that one in six stars hosts an Earth-size planet.

At the start of December, the Tor Project’s support email inbox began receiving an unusual number of messages from users saying they were encountering problems accessing the digital anonymity service. “It was not just one or two, but like 10 people asking,” says Gustavo Gus, community team lead of the Tor Project. At the same time, staff at the Open Observatory of Network Interference (OONI), which measures and tracks internet censorship, saw indications that suggested Russian internet service providers (ISPs) were blocking the Tor network.

For more than a year now, one of the biggest stories in tech has been Apple’s push to require developers to request permission from users before tracking their activity. The change has serious implications for advertisers that use that data to “personalize” ads based on what they think is relevant.
Facebook has been one of the loudest voices against Apple’s initiative, known as App Tracking Transparency, even taking out full-page ads in major newspapers claiming that Apple is hurting small businesses and threatening the “free and open internet.”
The other side of the story is the effort developers and digital advertisers have put into trying to get users to allow their data to be collected. Apple allows apps to request permission to track a user’s activity and apps are allowed to collect first-party data or data about how a user interacts with a developer’s own sites.
For example, Facebook can still track you across Instagram, since both are owned by Meta, which is the name the company gave itself because it realized that Facebook might be a bit of a tarnished brand. But, if it wants to track what you do online, it has to ask.

Gmail is a powerhouse of an email app, and its strengths go way beyond sending and receiving messages. The platform also allows you to bring in several of Google’s other apps to join the party from right inside the Gmail interface, giving you quick and easy access to your calendars, to-do list, files, and notes.
Google Chat and Google Meet
If you want, you can have Google Chat and Google Meet open right alongside Gmail on the web. To do this, click the cog icon (top right), then See all settings, and Chat and Meet. Select Google Chat next to Chat to show your text conversations, and Show the Meet section in the main menu next to Meet to see quick links to starting and joining a video call inside your browser.
Drag the top or bottom edges of the Chat and Meet panels on the left sidebar to alter their size and arrange them as you want on screen. It can also be useful to keep your most important contacts near the top of the list—do it by clicking the three dots next to a name and choosing.

A gazelle is any of many antelope species in the genus Gazella. This article also deals with the seven species included in two further genera, Eudorcas and Nanger, which were formerly considered subgenera of Gazella. A third former subgenus, Procapra, includes three living species of Asian gazelles.
Gazelles are known as swift animals. Some are able to run at bursts as high as 100 km/h (60 mph) or run at a sustained speed of 50 km/h (30 mph).[1] Gazelles are found mostly in the deserts, grasslands, and savannas of Africa; but they are also found in southwest and central Asia and the Indian subcontinent. They tend to live in herds, and eat less coarse, easily digestible plants and leaves.
Gazelles are relatively small antelopes, most standing 60–110 cm (2–3.5 ft) high at the shoulder, and are generally fawn-colored.
The gazelle genera are Gazella, Eudorcas, and Nanger. The taxonomy of these genera is confused, and the classification of species and subspecies has been an unsettled issue. Currently, the genus Gazella is widely considered to contain about 10 species. One species is extinct: the Queen of Sheba’s gazelle. Most surviving gazelle species are considered threatened to varying degrees. Closely related to the true gazelles are the Tibetan Goa and Mongolian gazelles (species of the genus Procapra), the blackbuck of Asia, and the African springbok.
One widely familiar gazelle is the African species Thomson’s gazelle (Eudorcas thomsoni), which is around 60 to 70 cm (24 to 28 in) in height at the shoulder and is coloured brown and white with a distinguishing black stripe. The males have long, often curved, horns. Like many other prey species, Tommies and springboks (as they are familiarly called) exhibit a distinctive behaviour of stotting (running and jumping high before fleeing) when they are threatened by predators, such as cheetahs, lions, African wild dogs, crocodiles, hyenas, and leopards.
Gazelle is derived from Arabic: غزال ġazāl, Maghrebi pronunciation ġazēl. To Europe it first came to Old Spanish and Old French, and then around 1600 the word entered the English language. The Arab people traditionally hunted the gazelle. Appreciated for its grace, it is a symbol most commonly associated in Arabic literature with female beauty. In many countries in Northwestern Sub-Saharan Africa, the gazelle is commonly referred to as “dangelo”, meaning “swift deer”. Wikipedia

If you haven’t looked at how your current bill compares with what it might be under a new plan or on a new service, you should check now. Despite the recent shift from four national carriers to three, and the transitions from 3G networks to 4G and now 5G, prices have gone down while data allocations have gone up, especially among the dozens of smaller carriers reselling services from the big three. But as always, most deals come with a catch.
There may not be one carrier or plan we can recommend for everyone, but we have recommendations for some of the most common needs, and advice for anyone with more unusual requirements too.

The metaverse, one of the most buzzy terms of the tech industry, could be many things. It could be a virtual world where imagination is the only limit. Or it could be a less fantastical place for holding business meetings without leaving home.
For the tech titans getting behind this big idea, the metaverse could be something more tangible: the next great way to make piles of money.
After 15 years of riding a boom in mobile computing that has turned tech’s biggest companies into giants worth trillions of dollars, the power brokers of the industry believe that controlling the doors into the metaverse and virtual reality could be the centerpiece of a new business, like smartphones and apps or personal computers and web browsers in the 1990s.
Fifteen years is a long time for the industry to wait for a new tech trend to come along. Ideas that many hoped would take central stage by now, like advanced artificial intelligence and quantum computing, are taking longer than some had anticipated. And the technology behind cryptocurrencies and newer ideas like decentralized computing appears promising — but its mainstream appeal is still unclear.
