Dear Boss,
I’ve become the go-to person everyone at work relies on for more and more job functions until I’m unable to keep up. I’m the type who goes to my own birthday party and ends up fixing one friend’s phone and cleaning part of a different friend’s house before I go home. I like to be busy and helpful, but there are limits.

Gold Harbour is a small bay 5 miles (8 km) south-southwest of Cape Charlotte, with Bertrab Glacier at its head, along the east end of South Georgia. During the early 1900s, the feature was variously called “Anna’s Bay”, “Gold-Hafen” or “Sandwich Bay”; the latter name has also been used for Iris Bay. The approved name appears to have taken root through common usage by sealers and whalers and is now well established.
Gold Harbour is so-called because the sun’s rays make the cliffs yellow with their light in the morning and evening. There is no particular historical or geological reason to give Gold Harbour its mineral name, which was in common use among the early sealers. Perhaps they were inspired by the sunsets.
The area is a breeding ground for penguins include King penguins and Gentoo penguins, and Southern elephant seals also breed here, especially at the west end of the beach, where a glacial stream flows. Light-mantled albatrosses also breed here. Wikipedia

Dear Prudence,
I’m starting to wonder if my family is toxic to my sister, “Beth.” She was always very different. Even as a child she was dark, moody, and not very outgoing. The rest of my family are total opposites. Beth rarely ever wanted to do the things we did and that got even worse when she got older. We tried to include her, but she just never enjoyed the things we did. We also tried to figure out what she might like to do and do those activities, but almost everything she likes to do is solitary. She went away to college and we pretty much ghosted her. We all reach out around major holidays that we spend together. Sometimes she comes, sometimes she doesn’t. I once asked her why she didn’t want to come to family events, and she said she just never felt like she fit in.
I’ve been reading a lot about people’s experiences with toxic family patterns, and I’m wondering if she thinks we’re toxic. I can’t say I know about every interaction she had with my parents, but I don’t think they ever said or did anything to directly make her think she wasn’t loved. We’re not a sarcastic or passive-aggressive family. I’m just at a loss and wondering if this is a personality quirk or if it’s something we did that we should try to make amends for. She’s so quiet and private, though, I don’t really know what her feelings are and I don’t want to make the situation worse. Is there something I should do?
— Hopefully Not Toxic

There has been a lot of talk lately about bringing your authentic self to the workplace. This trend is rooted in good intentions. It requires energy when, for whatever reason, we have to be mindful about regulating some facet of our identity. Accordingly, easing this burden makes sense. And although the idea of allowing everyone to express themselves freely is grounded in good intentions, often in the workplace, this practice can lead to unintended consequences. To be clear, this is exclusive of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) efforts that are long overdue. DEI initiatives, when done well, create and help maintain work environments that are safe and inclusive for all. Here we’re talking about something a bit different.
Our well-being is supported when we feel a positive sense of autonomy, competence, and a feeling of connection that aligns with our identity. Since most of us spend a significant portion of our waking hours on work-related tasks, these core needs are either met or not met at work. Given that living in alignment with our identity is important, what are some important things to consider to be as authentic as possible at work?

Watching Fox News can be like entering an alternative universe. It’s a world where Vladimir Putin isn’t actually that bad, but vaccines may be, and where some unhinged rightwing figures are celebrated as heroes, but Anthony Fauci, America’s top public health official, is an unrivaled villain.
Given the steady stream of misinformation an avid Fox News consumer is subjected to, the viewers – predominantly elderly, white, and Donald Trump-supporting – are sometimes written off as lost causes by Democrats and progressives, but according to a new study, there is still hope.
In an unusual, and labor-intensive, project, two political scientists paid a group of regular Fox News viewers to instead watch CNN for a month. At the end of the period, the researchers found surprising results; some of the Fox News watchers had changed their minds on a range of key issues, including the US response to coronavirus and Democrats’ attitude to police.
The findings suggest that political perspectives can be changed – but also reveals the influence partisan media has on viewers’ ideology.
Polls have previously shown that viewers of Fox News, the most-watched cable news channel in the US, are far more likely to believe the false claim that the 2020 presidential election was stolen than the average American, and are more likely to believe falsehoods about Covid-19.

Austria, officially the Republic of Austria, is a country in the southern part of Central Europe. It is a federation of nine states, one of which is the capital Vienna, the largest city and state by population. The country is bordered by Germany to the northwest, the Czech Republic to the north, Slovakia to the northeast, Hungary to the east, Slovenia and Italy to the south, and Switzerland and Liechtenstein to the west. It occupies a landlocked area of 83,879 km2 (32,386 sq mi) and has a population of roughly 9 million people.
Austria emerged from the remnants of the Eastern and Hungarian March at the end of the first millennium. Originally a margraviate of Bavaria, it later developed into a duchy of the Holy Roman Empire in 1156, and then an archduchy in 1453. As of the 16th century, Vienna began serving as the administrative imperial capital and Austria thus became the heartland of the Habsburg monarchy. Following the Empire’s dissolution in 1806, Austria established its own empire, which became a great power and the dominant member of the German Confederation. The Austrian Empire’s defeat in the Austro-Prussian War of 1866 lead to the end of the Confederation and paved the way for the establishment of Austria-Hungary a year later.
Following the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand in 1914, Emperor Franz Joseph declared war on Serbia, which ultimately escalated into World War I. The Empire’s defeat and subsequent collapse led to the proclamation of the Republic of German-Austria in 1918 and later the First Austrian Republic in 1919. During the interwar period, anti-parliamentarian sentiments culminated in the formation of an Austrofascist dictatorship under Engelbert Dollfuss in 1934. A year before the outbreak of World War II, Austria was annexed into Nazi Germany by Adolf Hitler, and it became a sub-national division. Following its liberation in 1945 and an extended period of Allied occupation, the country regained its sovereignty and declared its perpetual neutrality in 1955.
Austria is a parliamentary representative democracy with a popularly elected president as head of state and a chancellor as head of government and chief executive. Major urban areas include Vienna, Graz, Linz, Salzburg, and Innsbruck. Austria is consistently listed as one of the richest countries in the world by GDP per capita, one of the countries with the highest standard of living, and was ranked 18th in the world for its Human Development Index in 2020.
Austria has been a member of the United Nations since 1955 and of the European Union since 1995. It plays host to the OSCE and OPEC and is a founding member of the OECD and Interpol. It also signed the Schengen Agreement in 1995 and adopted the euro currency in 1999. Wikipedia

You may have heard of EQ, short for emotional intelligence, and IQ, short for intelligence quotient, but you likely aren’t familiar with RQ: Relational intelligence, or the skill of navigating relationships well.
RQ is becoming increasingly important because every single area of your life is inevitably impacted by the people in your life.
As an EQ researcher who has coached thousands of people, I’ve found that our spiritual, physical, financial, emotional, and professional progress is tethered to who we allow to be in our lives.

Developing your mental strength and self-discipline is one of the most valuable things you can do.
It allows you not just to survive, but thrive during life’s challenges.
It allows you to make better choices in stressful situations.
And it allows you to do hard things — and doing hard things leads to a good life.
Whether in sports, work, or your personal life, being able to rely on your self-discipline and mental strength is a competitive advantage few possess.
However, Stoics like Marcus Aurelius, Seneca, and Epictetus understood the importance of developing their self-discipline and mental fortitude.
Each day, they practiced specific habits and routines to become mentally ‘bulletproof’ and train their bodies and minds to endure hard things.

Hello! My name is Raven, and I have a hard time sleeping throughout the night.
While this wasn’t always the case in my life, my sleep schedule really changed last year during the COVID-19 pandemic, with me waking up at 3 a.m. and staying up for hours most nights. And I’m not the only one. According to a 2021 study that involved about 54,000 participants from 13 countries, it was determined that 40% of people from the general and healthcare populations have been affected too.
