Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump took a shot at the controversy surrounding Hillary Clinton’s health problems at a rally in Ohio on Wednesday night.
“I don’t know, folks, you think Hillary would be able to stand up here for an hour and do this? I don’t know. I don’t think so,” Trump said, after referring to the “hot” temperature in the room.
Trump, a 70-year-old whose BMI places him on the edge of obesity, later said he hopes Clinton recovers from her pneumonia, which lead to her nearly collapsing during a Sept. 11 remembrance event in New York over the weekend after she became “overheated.”

Editor’s note: This post contains discussions about suicide, including quotes from a suicide note.
It was one month into the New Year and MarShawn McCarrel had a lot going for him. He’d just turned 23 years old. His family and friends loved him. He’d recently gotten back from Los Angeles, where he’d traveled to attend the NAACP Image Awards with his mother, Leatha Wellington, as his date.
He was also getting ready to start a new job in Washington, D.C. — a stark but exciting change from his hometown of Columbus, Ohio. A new romantic relationship seemed to be moving along nicely. His friends say he showed no obvious signs that anything was wrong.
Then on Feb. 8, McCarrel logged onto Facebook and typed an ominous status update. “ demons won today,” he wrote at 2:37 in the afternoon. “I’m sorry.” A few hours later, he climbed the steps of the Ohio Statehouse in downtown Columbus, put a gun to his head and pulled the trigger.

An Ohio father was arrested after a cable installer found the “badly decomposed” body of a child inside a crib at an apartment complex, police said Wednesday.
Eric Warfel was charged with abuse of a corpse after the installer found the body of a baby girl inside a crib while updating equipment at an apartment in Medina, Ohio, Wednesday morning, the Medina Police Department said in a statement.
The dead child is believed to be Warfel’s daughter, 1-year-old Ember Warfel, officials said.

The threat of severe thunderstorms loomed over parts of the Midwest and Southeast on Monday, after a pregnant woman and two of her children were killed in floodwaters in Ohio.
Victoria Kennerd, 32, was six months pregnant. Her 7-year-old son and 5-year-old daughter were also killed, but her husband and her other two children survived when the family’s mobile home was swept away by the surging Red Oak Creek in Ripley, Ohio, NBC station WLWT reported.
The deaths came as heavy rain pounded much of the Eastern U.S. on Saturday and Sunday. Ripley was one of the worst hit areas, with four inches of rain falling in an hour. Dramatic images showed a flipped-over car, buckled garage doors and a torn-up roadway.

Brittany Maynard’s purposeful passing Saturday drove new dialogue on aid in dying, but her illness also reminded the world that science seems stuck in its bid to cure the most common type of brain cancer.
Maynard, 29 had glioblastoma, a fast-invading malignancy that, according to the National Brain Tumor Society, is “the most deadly, most prevalent form.” Even after surgery and chemotherapy, the tumor typically kills people in about 18 months, the group says.
Then, on Sunday, Lauren Hill, 19, stirred cheers and tears by notching two baskets for her Ohio college despite playing with a brain tumor that doctors project could claim her in weeks. Like Maynard, Hill’s tumor is in the glioma family. Her cancer is on the brain stem, which controls breathing and pulse, leaving surgeons unable to remove it while no drug has been found to effectively treat it.

Time magazine says White Castle’s small, square “sliders” are “the most influential burger of all time.”
The magazine notes the “now-iconic square patty” that debuted in 1921 in Wichita, Kan. was the first burger to spawn a fast-food empire. White Castle has been based in Columbus since 1934.
The Time story puts the White Castle burger at the top of the list of the 17 most influential burgers of all time, beating out burgers from McDonald’s and In-N-Out.

Charges were dismissed Thursday against a northeast Ohio man who served about 20 years in prison for a 1993 killing but maintained his innocence.
A judge ordered a new trial last year for Dewey Jones of Akron after tests showed his DNA didn’t match evidence at the scene.
Prosecutors filed to dismiss the charges, noting that witnesses have died and evidence has degraded.
“We basically looked at the case as it stands today and determined that we didn’t think that we could, for the second time, prove his guilt beyond a reasonable doubt,” said Jill Del Greco, a spokeswoman for the Ohio attorney general’s office.

Data from a regional stroke registry suggest that stroke may be shifting from a disease of the elderly to a midlife health concern.
The rate of first stroke among patients age 20 to 54 jumped 12.9 percent in 1993-1994 to 18.6 percent in 2005, according to Brett Kissela, MD, of the University of Cincinnati in Ohio, and colleagues.
