Stephen Curry scored 31 points, Klay Thompson added 26 and they led a season-saving surge that gave the Golden State Warriors a 106-105 victory over the Toronto Raptors on Monday night in Game 5 of the NBA Finals.
The Splash Brothers combined for three straight 3-pointers in the closing minutes after Toronto had taken a six-point lead with under 3½ minutes remaining in front of a raucous, red-shirted crowd.
The Warriors lost Kevin Durant barely a quarter after getting him back but got the win, cutting Toronto’s lead to 3-2 and sending the series back to Oracle Arena for Game 6 on Thursday.
Kawhi Leonard scored 26 points for the Raptors but couldn’t get the final shot, having to give the ball up.

Sportsgiving came early this year.
According to an Imgur/Reddit post by user gotsnowart, a high school girls’ basketball team in St. Joseph, Missouri received the surprise of a lifetime in the form of a very special delivery in the mail. The Benton Cardinals were already riding a high, having secured the Missouri state championship title for 2016, but a surprise package by NBA legend LeBron James lifted their spirits to new, soaring levels.

The Golden State Warriors have broken what for two decades was seen as one of basketball’s most iconic records, going 73-9 in the 2015-2016 regular season to claim the title of best regular season record in NBA history.
“I’m part of the best team ever,” forward Draymond Green said after the game.
With a 125-104 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday night, the Warriors narrowly eclipsed the previous record holder, Michael Jordan’s Chicago Bulls, who went 72-10 during the 1995-1996 season on their way to Jordan’s fourth NBA Championship.

A prominent advocacy group is trying to enlist basketball fans to do something about the scourge of gun violence in America.
Everytown for Gun Safety, in collaboration with the NBA, turned to top players like Steph Curry, Chris Paul, Joakim Noah and Carmelo Anthony to participate in an ad campaign against gun violence. The players joined with survivors and victims’ families in a series of short videos directed by Spike Lee.
In one of them, Curry recalls hearing about a little child who died from gun violence at age 3, the same age as his daughter Riley.

NBA Hall of Famer Moses Malone died on Sunday at age 60. The Philadelphia 76ers confirmed the “passing of a legend” in a statement commending the superstar for his contributions to the city and basketball.
The three-time NBA MVP averaged 20.6 points and 12.2 rebounds per game over his 21 seasons playing professional basketball. He was also named the Finals MVP in 1983 while playing with the 76ers, who won the league championship that year.
“It is with a deep sense of sadness that the Sixers family mourns the sudden loss of Moses Malone. It is difficult to express what his contributions to this organization — both as a friend and player — have meant to us, the city of Philadelphia and his faithful fans,” the 76ers said in a statement on Sunday.

Considering that they jump higher than NBA players and lift women over their head on a regular basis, the male dancer consistently delivers performances that rival any profession athlete. But try explaining to your playground buddies that you’re a ballet dancer. It ain’t easy being a male dancer.

The recovery of Robert Griffin III continues to get rave reviews from his orthopedic surgeon, Dr. James Andrews.
Last month at the Scouting Combine, Andrews said Griffin’s recovery from torn anterior cruciate and lateral collateral ligaments in his right knee was “way ahead of schedule.”
Then, in an interview with ESPN’s Stephania Bell on Friday, Andrews described Griffin as “superhuman” in his ability and motivation to recover. Andrews put South Carolina running back Marcus Lattimore in the same category. Lattimore hopes to get drafted next month as he rehabs from a second torn ACL.
Andrews compared the rehabs of Griffin and Lattimore to those of Bo Jackson and Adrian Peterson.
