To say that President Donald Trump has a casual relationship with the truth would be a gross understatement. He has repeatedly cited debunked conspiracy theories, pushed voter fraud myths, and embellished his record and accomplishments. The barrage of falsehoods has been so furious that journalists have taken to issuing instant fact-checks during press conferences and calling out false statements during cable news broadcasts.
All presidents lie, but lying so brazenly and so frequently about even silly factoids like his golf game has put Trump in his own category. His disregard for the truth is reflected in his top aides, who have inflated easily disproved figures like the attendance at his inauguration and even cited terror attacks that never happened.
The Huffington Post tracked the public remarks of Trump and his aides to compile a list of 100 incidents of egregious falsehoods. Still, it is likely the administration has made dozens of other misleading and exaggerated claims.

As a team of elite U.S. commandos found themselves under unexpectedly heavy fire in a remote Yemeni village last month, eight time zones away, their commander in chief was not in the Situation Room.
It’s unclear what he, personally, was doing. But his Twitter account was busy promoting an upcoming appearance on the Christian Broadcasting Network.
“I will be interviewed by @TheBrodyFile on @CBNNews tonight at 11pm. Enjoy!” read a tweet from President Donald Trump’s personal account on Saturday, Jan. 28.
Whether it was Trump himself or an aide who sent out that tweet at 5:50 p.m. ― about half an hour into a firefight that cost a Navy SEAL his life ― cannot be determined from the actual tweets, and the White House isn’t saying. Likewise, it’s not clear who deleted the tweet some 20 minutes later, or why the new president, just a week on the job, chose not to directly monitor the first high-risk military operation on his watch.

Mounting research continues to show the links between the health of the gut and that of the brain. Now, a new study from Lund University in Sweden finds that unhealthy intestinal flora can accelerate the development of Alzheimer’s disease.
The report, published Feb. 8 in the journal Scientific Reports, demonstrates that mice with Alzheimer’s have a different gut bacterial profile than those that do not have the disease.
The gut microbiome is highly responsive to dietary and lifestyle factors. This suggests that a gut-healthy diet may play a powerful role in preventing one of the most feared diseases in America.
“Alzheimer’s is a preventable disease and in the near future we will likely be able to give advice on what to eat to prevent it,” study author Dr. Frida Fak Hållenius, associate professor at the university’s Food for Health Science Centre, told The Huffington Post. “Take care of your gut bacteria, by eating lots of whole-grains, fruits and vegetables.”

The Republican leader of the United States Senate was asked last week if he believed the Republican president’s denial that his campaign colluded with the foreign power that was trying to help him win.
Mitch McConnell’s answer: “I have no idea.”
His office later said that McConnell misunderstood the question ― that he thought he was being asked if he personally knew whether Trump’s campaign had colluded with Russia. Regardless, McConnell’s four words represent the new president’s problem in a nutshell. Having made falsehoods a staple of his public discourse, Donald Trump now faces enormous hurdles in getting even his presumptive allies to put their names behind his credibility.
Trump has made untrue statements about the size of his inauguration crowd, the “standing ovation” he received at CIA headquarters, the “millions” of “illegal” votes cast in the November election, the murder rate, the news coverage given to terror attacks, and, just Saturday at his Florida “campaign” rally, about the amount of vetting refugees trying to enter the country must undergo and about a nonexistent terror incident in Sweden.

While the New England Patriots and the Atlanta Falcons pounded on each other during Super Bowl LI, Donald Trump took an even bigger beating during the commercial breaks.
From immigration and inclusion to bad hair, brands weren’t shy about sharing their opinions.

Although many commercials during Super Bowl LI had a political bent, only one featured a full-blown Donald Trump parody making Russia jokes.
“Washington is so cold, I thought Russia was cold,” are the first lines to come out of the Donald Trump impersonator’s pursed mouth in Cyprus Air’s commercial advertising gas fireplaces.
From there, the impersonator makes various jokes about the sale being “huuuge” and the customers being winners.
The commercial ran in the Washington D.C. market. President Trump was not in D.C. Sunday, instead opting for his Mar-a-Lago home.

A “drunk and racist” man was thrown off a train in the United Kingdom after ranting about a woman and her 4-year-old son in a scene caught on video.
Alexander MacKinnon pleaded guilty last week to a racially aggravated public order offense over the incident, which took place in December on a train from London to Glasgow, the Independent reported.
Sanaa Shahid was traveling with her 4-year-old son, Zayn, when she said MacKinnon asked how they got into first class.
“You don’t deserve to be in first class,” he said, Shahid told the Daily Record. “You should be in common class. In fact, you shouldn’t be in this country at all.”
Shahid, an attorney, told the newspaper she has lived in Scotland all her life.
She said 10 to 12 people witnessed the incident but did not speak up as MacKinnon, also an attorney, accosted her and insulted her son.

It wasn’t exactly a YUGE turnout.
A rally in support of President Donald Trump and his immigration ban in Portland, Maine on Saturday is drawing attention on social media for all the wrong reasons: only a handful of people showed up, according to footage from local CBS station WGME.
“I’m just kind of letting you know there’s another side to the story,” Trump supporter Doug Prevost told the station. “Letting people know [Trump] has an awful lot of backers behind him.”
There appeared to be eight people at the rally.

Wednesday marked the fifth World Hijab Day, an annual event that found new significance this year in the wake of President Donald Trump’s recent executive order targeting Muslims and immigrants.
A gathering at New York’s City Hall in honor of the event was marked by crowds of women wearing American flag hijabs and holding signs to protest Islamophobia.
World Hijab Day started in 2013 in response to discrimination against Muslim women who wear the hijab. The event celebrates religious freedom and Muslim women’s right to wear a head covering.
The intention behind the tradition is to give non-Muslims and non-hijab-wearing Muslim women an opportunity to experience the hijab for a day, said founder Nazma Khan on the World Hijab Day website.

Keith Olbermann has a message for the global community: We’re sorry.
“Donald Trump has branded himself a traitor to everything this country has stood for. We have already acted against him in the streets and in the courts,” the liberal commentator said in his latest “The Resistance” segment for GQ. “We will remove him. We will welcome you again.”
Olbermann also spoke about America’s long history as a sanctuary for the world’s immigrants and refugees, and drew parallels between Trump’s immigrant grandfather and his own immigrant great-great grandfather.
