Want to stop excessive underarm sweating? A pit stop in your doctor’s office may solve your hyperhidrosis in surprisingly little time.
If you have axillary hyperhidrosis, or excessive sweating, you’re all too familiar with the pit falls of the condition: dealing with underarm stains, stressing over potential body odors, and eliminating silk shirts from your wardrobe.
Until now, the most common treatments available were prescription antiperspirant, Botox injections, or surgery. However, a new non-invasive procedure promises to relieve the mental, physical, and fashion stresses of the 1 in 5 Americans dealing with excessive sweating by targeting the source of the problem.

MY wife and I attended my 30-year college reunion a couple of weekends ago, but the partying was bittersweet. My freshman roommate, Scott Androes, was in a Seattle hospital bed, a victim in part of a broken health care system. Strip away the sound and fury of campaign ads and rival spinmeisters, and what’s at stake in this presidential election is, in part, lives like Scott’s.

David Smith looked at the photo of himself holding his newborn daughter, Emma, and winced. The former rugby player had weighed in at a respectable 15st (210 lbs US) for his 6ft 2in frame, until a ruptured Achilles tendon had forced him to leave the Army. He’d since slowly piled on the pounds and now, 12 years later, weighed nearly 20st (280 lbs US).

Are there depression-fighting foods? A growing body of research says yes.
Recent studies have found evidence that foods such as cold-water fish (salmon, sardines, and tuna, for example), walnuts, and canola oil may be especially beneficial in fighting depression, thanks to an abundance of omega-3 fatty acids. This may help explain why Scandinavian and Asian countries, which boast fish-rich diets, also have lower rates of depression.

For years now, a steady slew of headlines have warned about the dangers of methamphetamine addiction, with many calling meth (nicknamed “ice,” “crystal,” or “crank”) the most dangerous drug in America.
However, according to new research from Toronto’s Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH), when it comes to sheer deadliness, there’s an even bigger threat out there than meth: opioids.

A team of mind readers can now pinpoint exactly when a rat feels uncertain about its choices, simply by measuring its brain activity.
Doubt, they’ve discovered, creeps into the mind slowly. It starts with a few nerve cells near the front of the brain that get themselves into a tizzy. More and more cells join in, until a line is crossed and the mental maelstrom shakes up established patterns of brain activity — allowing rats, and possibly humans as well, to question their old beliefs about the world and explore new options, researchers report in the Oct. 5 issue of the journal Science.
