The evidence is still coming in, but polls so far suggest that the tape of Donald Trump discussing sexual assault and the ensuing accusations didn’t cause support for the GOP presidential nominee to collapse.
Instead, the week’s events seem to have reinforced a downward trend that started at the beginning of the month. He’s unlikely to recover, and Trump’s odds of winning on Nov. 8 are less than 1 in 10, according to HuffPost’s projections.
According to HuffPost Pollster’s trend for the two-way Hillary Clinton vs. Trump race, Trump’s numbers began dropping at the end of September after briefly rising as high as 43 percent. He’s at just under 41 percent now ― a small but significant decline. In polls including third-party candidates, there’s been essentially no movement: Trump is stuck between 38 and 39 percent.

Two and a half years after nearly 300 girls were kidnapped from a school in northeastern Nigeria, the government said on Thursday that 21 of them had been freed, the biggest breakthrough in an ordeal that has shocked the world and laid bare the deadly instability gripping large parts of the country.
Boko Haram, the radical Islamist group that has killed thousands of civilians, overrun villages and terrorized the region, seized the girls from a school in the town of Chibok on April 14, 2014. For many around the globe, the mass abduction provided a stunning introduction to a militant group that had been waging war against Nigerians for years.
Soon after the girls were kidnapped, an international campaign began urging the Nigerian government to do more to secure their release, using the hashtag #BringBackOurGirls and drawing support from Michelle Obama and others.

Four women came forward Wednesday night with allegations of Donald Trump sexually assaulting them.
The New York Times began the wave of accounts with a bombshell report on two women, Jessica Leeds and Rachel Crooks, who say Trump groped them. Both had told close friends of being assaulted by Trump, but neither had gone public with their story until Wednesday. A third woman, Mindy McGillivray, also accused Trump of groping her in a story published by the The Palm Beach Post shortly after the Times article appeared. And later Wednesday, People writer Natasha Stoynoff said Trump had attempted to force himself on her while she was interviewing him.
Three of the alleged incidents happened in the early to mid-2000s, while one was 30 years ago. Two occurred at Mar-a-Lago, Trump’s estate in South Florida. All four paint a disturbing picture of a man who 11 years ago was recorded boasting he can sexually assault women at will because of his fame.

While running the Miss Teen USA beauty pageant, Donald Trump reportedly walked in on contestants as they changed in their dressing room, multiple contestants told BuzzFeed on Wednesday.
The site quoted Mariah Billado, a 1997 contestant from Vermont, who recalled having to get dressed “really quickly” because Trump had entered the room. Girls were “just scrambling to grab stuff,” she added.
Billado paraphrased the GOP presidential nominee as saying: “Don’t worry, ladies, I’ve seen it all before.” When she first learned that Trump was running for president she thought, “Oh, gross, this guy walked in on us in the pageant.”

At a rally in Iowa on Tuesday, a Donald Trump supporter said she’s “ready for a revolution” if Hillary Clinton wins the election.
Speaking to Trump’s running mate, Mike Pence, the unnamed supporter said she was “scared” of voter fraud, which has become one of Trump’s talking points as his poll numbers have plunged. When the woman mentioned voter fraud, the audience cheered and clapped.
“There’s a lot of us that are out here saying that we go to vote, we’re gonna wear red,” she said, adding:
“Our lives depend on this election. Our kids’ futures depends on this election. I will tell you, just for me ― and I don’t want this to happen ― but I will tell you for me personally, if Hillary Clinton gets in, I myself, I’m ready for a revolution, because we can’t have her in.”

Anyone waiting to hear contrition from Donald Trump about recently leaked audio of him bragging that his celebrity allowed him to grab women by their genitals will just have to keep waiting.
When the question inevitably came up at the second presidential debate Sunday night, Trump tried to minimize its significance, repeating the phrase that he put out shortly after the audio was released on Friday ― “locker room talk” – while appearing to dispute that those actions constitute sexual assault.
“No, I didn’t say that at all,” Trump said about the sexual assault description by moderator Anderson Cooper. “I don’t think you understand what was said.”

Of the more than 16,000 words uttered at Sunday night’s debate, not one of them was “Ferguson.”
The debate took place at Washington University in St. Louis, an eight-mile drive from the suburb that erupted in rebellion following the 2014 death of Michael Brown, an unarmed black teenager, and the failure to indict the officer who shot him, Darren Wilson. It was a moment that shifted America’s discourse around race and policing, and helped usher in the Black Lives Matter movement.
But if you watched Hillary Clinton duel Donald Trump on Sunday, you’d never know it happened. On a night filled with personal vitriol unlike any other we’ve witnessed in modern political history, Ferguson — and the demands for a radical rethinking of black life in America that it prompted — wasn’t even a footnote. Instead, the candidates spoke about race in vague generalities that often missed the point entirely.

“You know I’m automatically attracted to beautiful [women]. I just start kissing them. It’s like a magnet. Just kiss. I don’t even wait,” Donald Trump can be heard saying to “Access Hollywood” host Billy Bush in an explicit and uncensored 2005 video recording obtained by The Washington Post’s David A. Fahrenthold and released Friday.
“And when you’re a star they let you do it,” Trump continues. “You can do anything … Grab them by the pussy. You can do anything.”

Hurricane Matthew’s eyewall whipped parts of Florida’s northeast coast Friday afternoon, marching up the southeastern United States after its deadly spree across the Caribbean.
Three deaths in Florida may be tied to the hurricane, officials said. The storm weakened to a Category 3 hurricane overnight after decimating Haiti, where the death toll rose Friday to more than 800, according to Reuters. NBC News could not immediately confirm that number.

The fiercest winds from Hurricane Matthew stayed off Florida’s coast as the storm raked the Atlantic shoreline Friday but predicted storm surges in Georgia and the Carlonias could cause “life-threatening” flooding, forecasters said.
Hurricane Matthew was packing sustained winds of 105 mph as it churned northwards towards Savannah Saturday, the National Hurricane Center said at 11 p.m.
Storm surges of up to 9 feet are possible from Flager Beach in Florida to Edisto Beach, S.C., and surges of up to 6 feet could occur on a stretch of coast that includes Charleston to Cape Fear, the hurricane center said.
