Chris Brown took to Twitter on Tuesday to tell the world that he plans to quit music after the release of “X,” his upcoming LP.
The R&B singer said he’s “tired of being famous for a mistake” he made when he was 18, referencing when he assaulted Rihanna.
Both Brown, who has had a string of other post-assault altercations and incidents on his rap sheet, and the music industry, which has promoted and booked Brown since shortly after the assault, have faced near constant criticism since the horrific event that took place before the 2009 Grammys.

Reblogged this on Mb Man – My life and commented:
This is something that I have seen pop up again and again latley. People are still going ON AND ON about what Chris did to Rihanna. Was it right? No. Domestic abuse is never right.
But the way ive seen people react to this since, is nothing short of redicules. Like a Care2 petition out of Halifax NS (I believe), which was attempting to block an upcoming proformance from the artist because “what kind of message are we sending if we let someone of his track record proform here?”.
If people do not want to see him, and if people are still angry with him about the past assult, then they will boycott, speak with there wallets. Why is it that you find it nessesary to deprive hundreds (thousands?) of his fans of a show, just because you don’t agree with what he did? Seems rather selfish, don’t it?
Chris Brown is not the first artist to do wrong, and certainly will not be the last. If other people continually judged one by the sins of there past, then there would be no clean people. Though the crimes may be horriffic, there eventually comes a time when you must move on. Im thinking that Rihanna must have by now.
Another question to ask yourself.
Are you STILL going out of this 4 or 5 years later, out of genuine disdain for the act? Or is this just a convenitent selling point for you pro feminist views?
