The most dramatic play of the Pinstripe Bowl apparently didn’t happen on the field. Perhaps more surprisingly, it was made by player who hasn’t appeared in a college football game since the 2000 season.
ESPN’s Chris Fowler tweeted that his partner in the broadcast booth, former Florida quarterback Jesse Palmer, saved his life with the Heimlich maneuver during halftime of the college football bowl game in New York City. Fowler and Palmer were at Yankee Stadium on Saturday calling the game between Notre Dame and Rutgers.
Usain Bolt’s Speed Comes Despite Serious Aerodynamic Drag, Physicists Say (VIDEO)

What explains Usain Bolt’s speed? Track fans have been debating that question for years, and now a team of physicists from the National University of Mexico in Mexico City have created a mathematical model that helps explain how the world’s fastest man is able to bolt 100 meters in well under 9.6 seconds.
“As far as our study can reveal, he seems to be able to develop more power than other runners,” study co-author Dr. Jorge Hernandez, a professor of biophysics at the university, told The Huffington Post in an email. “A way of doing it is that he finds a way to reduce the area (cross section, as we call it) he presents to the air. Maybe adopting a running position that reduces this area, but that wouldn’t reduce his performance/ability to deploy the power he actually does.”
The researchers analyzed Bolt’s 100-meter sprint in the 2009 World Championships in Berlin, where he set a new world record at 9.58 seconds. Considering Bolt’s height (he stands six-foot, five inches), race-day conditions, and the speed he reached, the scientists calculated the amount of drag that Bolt had to overcome to set that record.

His legs were hurting, the rain was pouring and he was trailing late in the race.
Doesn’t matter. This is Usain Bolt.
And nothing gets in the way of him and first place, especially when he’s driven as he was Sunday night in the 100-meter final at the world championships.
Bolt blew by Justin Gatlin with about 30 meters to go and never glanced back. He also didn’t even crack a smile when he crossed the finish line because this took a lot more work than the world’s fastest sprinter usually needs.
Gatlin was second and Bolt’s Jamaican teammate Nesta Carter took third.
Of all Bolt’s titles, this one will have a special meaning, considering he false-started two years ago in the final to lose his crown.

Oscar Pistorius is off to a good start at the 2012 Summer Paralympics, setting a new world record Saturday in his 200m heat.
The 25-year-old South African, who competed in the 400m and 4x400m relay at the London Olympic Games, won his heat in 21.30 seconds, shaving more than half a second off the previous record set by Brazilian Alan Oliveira in an earlier heat.
