A suspect has been arrested in connection with a spate of shootings along a major highway that runs through Arizona, authorities said on Friday.
“We got him! DPS SWAT team is in custody of the individual suspected of I-10 shootings. Apprehended moments ago,” Arizona Governor Doug Ducey said on Twitter.
At a late Friday news conference, law enforcement officials gave few details of the suspect and did not release his name, but said a gun he owned was “forensically linked” to the first four shootings on the highway.

Two police officers were “simply having lunch” at a strip mall pizza buffet in Las Vegas when a man and a woman fatally shot them at point-blank range, then fled to a nearby Walmart where they killed a third person and then themselves in an apparent suicide pact, authorities said.
The attack at a CiCi’s Pizza restaurant Sunday killed Officers Alyn Beck, 41, and Igor Soldo, 31, who are both husbands and fathers. One of the shooters yelled, “This is a revolution,” but a motive remains under investigation, Las Vegas police spokesman Larry Hadfield told The Associated Press.
“It’s a tragic day,” Sheriff Doug Gillespie said at a news conference Sunday afternoon. “But we still have a community to police, and we still have a community to protect. We will be out there doing it with our heads held high, but with an emptiness in our hearts.”

A south Louisiana man attacked his former in-laws, his current wife, and the head of a hospital where he’d worked, killing three before killing himself, authorities said.
.
The shootings happened at four locations in two parishes about 45 miles southwest of New Orleans on Thursday. The first report came about 6:40 p.m., when Lafourche Parish Councilman Louis Phillip Gouaux – who was shot in the throat – called 911 from his home in Lockport, Houma, La., newspaper The Courier reported.
The suspect, Ben Freeman, 38, was the ex-husband of Gouaux’s daughter Jeanne, Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office spokesman Brennan Matherne said in a news release.
Gouaux’s wife, Susan “Pixie” Gouaux, was dead when deputies arrived, Matherne said. Louis Phillip Gouaux and his daughter, Andrea Gouaux, were injured and taken to University Hospital in New Orleans. Both were in critical but stable condition, Matherne said.
