A violent St. Patrick’s day brawl among white adult men in the middle of Manhattan — which was caught on video — has resulted in no arrests, and only one news report of the incident.
That’s compared to the reams of articles and the five arrests resulting from a video last week of a fight among a group of black teenage girls in a Brooklyn McDonald’s.
Anthony Rooar Decarlis said he thinks videos of fights are “trash,” but the 31-year-old artist still felt compelled to pull out his phone Tuesday and record the drunken brawl, which occurred on 46th Street outside O’Brien’s Pub.

A report released last week holds troubling findings about lasting inequality across the African-American community.
The 2015 “State of Black America” study, conducted by the National Urban League, finds that black Americans fare worse than their white peers across a variety of indicators, including economics, social justice and overall equality. The report, issued every year since 1976, showed modest gains in some areas, but leaves plenty of concerns about the speed of progress more than 50 years after the passage of the Civil Rights Act.
“What do we say and how would we frame the state of black America for 2015? I must use the word crisis,” said Marc H. Morial, president and chief executive of the National Urban League, at a Thursday news conference in Washington, D.C.

A grand jury in Staten Island voted Wednesday not to indict New York City police officer Daniel Pantaleo in the death of Eric Garner, a black man who died after being placed in a chokehold.
Garner, 43, died July 17 while he was being arrested for selling untaxed cigarettes. In a video of the arrest, which has since gone viral, Garner screams “I can’t breathe!” multiple times until his body goes limp. A medical examiner later said that he died of a chokehold, a move that is banned by the NYPD, and ruled his death a homicide.
Garner’s attorney said Wednesday that the “family is very upset and disappointed that these officers are not getting indicted for any criminal conduct.”

You know how it is. You’re outside your house, sitting on your stoop, peaceably eating an ice cream cone, and when you look up there’s a gun trained on your face and a police officer demanding that you vacate the premises.
Or maybe you don’t. You don’t, unless you’re not white.
In “Cop v. Black Guy,” a Funny Or Die video written by “Key And Peele” veterans Colton Dunn and Phil Augusta Jackson, a cop accosts a young man sitting on his on porch. Things advance and get absurd quickly — his uniform switches from SWAT to Stormtrooper before we know it — and the absurdity is fitting.

Jordan Davis would have turned 19 on Sunday.
The black teen was killed in 2012 while sitting in a car with his friends outside a Jacksonville, Florida convenience store, listening to music.
That music was too loud for Michael Dunn. Following an argument over the volume, the 45-year-old man fired his gun into the carful of teenagers, killing Davis. Dunn told his fiancee the teens were playing “thug music.”
On the eve of Davis’ birthday, a mistrial was declared on the first-degree murder charge. The jury found Dunn guilty of attempted second-degree murder and a count of firing into an occupied car.
