Hostess is moving ahead with plans to sell its Twinkies, and one of the new owners says the spongy cream-filled snacks could be back on shelves by summer.
The bankrupt company had earlier picked a $410 million joint offer from Metropoulos & Co. and Apollo Global Management (APO) as the “stalking horse” bid to set the floor for an auction.

Hostess Brands Inc., the makers of Twinkies, Ding Dongs and Wonder Bread, says it’s going out of business, leading some Americans to stock up on the sweet processed treats in case they disappear from shelves.
The stunning announcement is the result of a bankruptcy and labor dispute, the Associated Press reports. More than 18,000 jobs would be cut.

After Hostess Brands announced it’s going out of business following a labor dispute, panicked consumers have rushed to stores to stock up on their favorite heart-clogging treats.
While it will be possible to buy Hostess treats from stores for “a few more days” until already baked products run out, the inevitable — and wildly inflated — “black market” of Hostess products has already reared its costly head on the Interwebs in preparation for the impending Twinkie-pocalypse.
