Aaron Hernandez, the former star tight end with the New England Patriots who was convicted of first-degree murder in 2015, hanged himself in prison on Wednesday, the authorities said.
He was discovered in his cell by corrections officers at the Souza-Baranowski Correctional Center in Shirley, Mass., around 3 a.m., the Massachusetts Department of Correction said in a statement.
Lifesaving techniques were attempted, and he was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 4:07 a.m., the department said.
“Mr. Hernandez hanged himself using a bedsheet that he attached to his cell window,” the statement said. “Mr. Hernandez also attempted to block his door from the inside by jamming the door with various items.”

Terrelle Pryor found a new home.
.
NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reports the receiver signed a one-year deal with the Washington Redskins for $8 million.
The 6-foot-4 receiver couldn’t find the long-term, big-money contract, so, much like fellow wideout Alshon Jeffrey, he settled for a one-year “prove-it” contract.
The former quarterback busted out last season as the Cleveland Browns’ No. 1 receiver. The big-bodied, athletic playmaker earned 1,007 yards on 77 receptions and four touchdowns.
While he has the size, hands and speed to be a top-shelf receiver, Pryor still must improve his route-running acumen. The questions about Pryor’s continued growth at the position likely left him with fewer suitors on the open market than more experienced players with his athletic skills might have garnered.
Pryor’s stats down the stretch of last season waned as he dealt with a hand injury, but it’s fair to wonder if some teams viewed the struggles as defenses catching up with the new receiver.

New Year’s night, a sparkling “2017” is brightly lit atop the Tokyo Tower, and the possibilities ringing in are endless. Proof? Inside apartments on the city’s flat screens, a Japanese League champion and heartthrob is squatting behind a makeshift home plate in a studio attempting to receive his own pitches.
“Best baseball player in the world,” one high-ranking official with a major league club flatly has declared back in the United States.
“He’s…wow!” one veteran scout with a National League club exclaimed.
“All the stories you hear are real as far as the batting practice power and his ability to throw 100 mph,” the international scouting director of another major league club said. “All the stories.”

The Sheppard sisters are running sensations, but it’s what the three young girls are running from that makes them extraordinary.
Tai, 12, Rainn, 11, and Brooke, 9, run hurdles, distance, and high jump, respectively.
When the girls’ half-brother was fatally shot, their family fell on hard times and was evicted from their home. They have lived in a homeless shelter in Brooklyn, New York’s Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood since September of 2015.

The 2017 All Star game was the best in NBA history. The combined scores of both teams were 374 points but the most interesting thing that happened was that more than two guys on one team scored over 40 points. Russell Westbrook scored 41 and Anthony Davis scored 52. It was so much fun to watch and even basketball enthusiasts who are not fans of either team would have enjoyed it. Not just the All Star game but the whole All Star weekend was really great. The three-point contest and dunk contest turned out to be very entertaining.

This is Devin again and I have a lot of juicy stuff for you all out there.
The NBA is getting even more interesting because the Cavaliers are dominating. The Cavs and the Warriors have the best records in the NBA and everything is working out the way I want. LeBron James versus Kevin Durant in the 2017 NBA Finals was always meant to be and it looks like it’s going to happen. No teams are a match for these unstoppable forces except for maybe the Spurs, Rockets, or the Clippers. Otherwise, they’re unbeatable because these teams are dominant offensively and defensively. The one difference between the Cavs and the Warriors is that if the Cavs win, then they’re champions. However, if the Warriors win, it doesn’t mean anything because Kevin Durant is a team member. Kevin Durant joined a team that had the best shooters in the NBA, so it’s not as much of a milestone for the Warriors who have a huge advantage right now.
Overall, this is exciting because the two best players will be on opposing teams in the NBA Finals.

… In continuing where I left off in my last editorial, the patriots won, just as I said they would. They didn’t just win, they came back from 25 down and won in overtime. The Falcons were just too young and had no Super Bowl unlike the Patriots who were previously in the Super Bowl 5 times. It’s just crazy how good this Patriots team handles themselves on the field. I have a lot of respect for the Patriots because they are a really good team, which annoys me to no end. Ah well! There’s always next year!
What really made me mad was when the Patriots beat the Seahawks in the 2014 Super Bowl. I was so hurt that I almost didn’t want to watch the Super Bowl the following year but I managed to get over it in time. The Patriots, after all, is a sophisticated team, which is the reason why they got the victory. As disappointing as the Super Bowl was, the NBA season is still going great. The Cavaliers are killing teams, although the majority betted on the Warriors. The Cavs proved them wrong.

The New England Patriots dug themselves a 25-point hole, forced overtime with a touchdown and two-point conversion with less than a minute to play, then scored on the first possession of the extra period to beat the Atlanta Falcons, 34-28, in Super Bowl LI on Sunday night.
James White’s two-yard touchdown run in overtime ― the first in Super Bowl history ― gave the Patriots the comeback win ― the largest in Super Bowl history.
