Residents of a Russian town invaded by polar bears have said they are taking children to school by car and patrolling the streets with stun grenades as they wait for bear experts to arrive.
Nadezhda Kireyeva, a postal worker in the Arctic military town of Belushya Guba, told The Telegraph that locals have taken precautions against attack while trying to continue with their daily lives, even though coming face-to-face with a polar bear incites a mix of “adrenaline, terror and the question of what to do”. She recently saw a group of seven bears on the street.
According to Ms Kireyeva, the town’s 2,000 residents have become more vigilant and don’t go outside alone. Despite the short distances, cars have been organized to bring employees to work and children to school. Soldiers are under orders to move around only in vehicles.

Penguins are a group of aquatic flightless birds. They live almost exclusively in the Southern Hemisphere, with only one species, the Galapagos penguin, found north of the equator. Highly adapted for life in the water, penguins have countershaded dark and white plumage, and their wings have evolved into flippers. Most penguins feed on krill, fish, squid and other forms of sea life which they catch while swimming underwater. They spend roughly half of their lives on land and the other half in the sea.
Although almost all penguin species are native to the Southern Hemisphere, they are not found only in cold climates, such as Antarctica. In fact, only a few species of penguin live so far south. Several species are found in the temperate zone, and one species, the Galápagos penguin, lives near the equator.

In Sequoia National Park, somewhere . . . . !!
Thankfully, no loggers took it down, nor forest fires or earthquakes !!
Just living the quite life in a California forest for all these years …. !!
Not every tree has a nickname, but ‘The President’ has earned it …. !!
This giant sequoia stands at 247 feet tall and is estimated to be over 3,200 years old . . . . !!
Imagine, this tree was already 700 years old during the height of ancient Greece’s civilization …. and, 1200 years old when Jesus lived and the Roman’s were well into their rule of most of the western world and points beyond . . . . !!
The trunk of The President measures at 27 feet across, with more than 2 BILLION needles from it’s base to the top . . . . !
Because of its unbelievable size …. this tree has never been photographed in its entirety, until now …. National Geographic photographers have worked along with scientists to try and create the first photo that shows “The President” …. in all its glory . . . . !!
They had to Climb the tree with pulleys and levers …. They took thousands of photos …. Of those, they selected 126 and stitched them together to get this incredible portrait of “The President” …. !! And here it is . . . . :
The man standing near the trunk of the tree is a good indicator of the tree’s actual size . . . . !!
Isn’t it Incredible . . . . ??
