Why Authorities Warn You Should Always Keep Your Keys Wrapped In Foil

It’s no secret that more than ever, thieves are getting more clever. As safety technologies evolve, so do ways criminals steal from you.

One of the biggest purchases you can make in your life, outside of a home, is a vehicle. That’s why it’s important to understand new ways criminals are using technologies to steal them. What thieves are now doing is they are using a “relay attack” to break into cars.

Basically what this “relay attack” does is it hijacks the signal from a person’s key fob which allows them to open a car without the alarm going off. It also in many cases lets them start the car without having to have the actual keys in their possession.

The new iPhone is in stores. Here are 5 reasons to wait before buying one.

.

Hello there, savvy iPhone shopper. Ready for an upgrade? There are a few things you should know before emptying your wallet at the Apple store.

It’s an especially confusing moment: Apple will sell no fewer than eight iPhone models in 2018. But they haven’t all gone on sale yet — and there are reasons to hold off on the two most-expensive ones that hit stores on Friday: the $1,000 iPhone XS and $1,100 XS Max.

Wait, isn’t the new iPhone the best ever? Yes — Apple would be in serious trouble if it wasn’t. And I don’t have to tell you what makes an iPhone great: simple design, a great camera, software that mostly just works and free Apple support.

Why extracurriculars make parents miserable

Click link below picture

.

There are oh-so-many studies and expert opinions evaluating the ways our parenting choices affect our kids and oh-so-few considering how we grown-ups will fare. Read enough of them, and you’ll be misled to believe that parents are fixed entities with little capacity to feel or grow.

This is particularly the case when it comes to time management. We’re told that children need lots of unstructured time, and it’s up to us to cultivate it. But we’re also told that children need to be challenged and inspired, and it’s up to us to arrange it. So off we go to karate and violin and religious school and soccer and dance, while making sure there is enough time in there for wandering in the woods or building a treehouse, or whatever else passes for low-pressure character-building these days.
.
As a parent of a 5- and a 1-year-old, I’m fairly new to the scheduling trenches. And yet a small voice has emerged, a faint chant from the back of my brain, repeating: Where do my needs fit into all this?

.

Parents are "thinking about what works for the kids, but they also need to think about what works for them," an author says.

‘How could this happen again?’ Why this Catholic abuse scandal seems worse than 2002

This is how bad things are in the Catholic Church right now: The Pope’s top adviser on clergy sexual abuse canceled a trip to Ireland for a papal event because he has to investigate sexual misconduct in his own seminary.

And Cardinal Sean O’Malley of Boston, president of the Pontifical Commission for the Protection of Minors, isn’t alone. Cardinal Donald Wuerl of Washington, another key papal ally embroiled in the sex abuse crisis, has also canceled his appearance at next week’s World Meeting of Families, a spokesman told CNN.

Parasite in cat poop could be reducing our fear of failure, study finds

.

A mind-controlling parasite found in cat feces may give people the courage they need to become entrepreneurs, researchers reported Tuesday.

They found that people who have been infected with the Toxoplasma gondii parasite are more likely to major in business and to have started their own businesses than non-infected people.

The parasite, which makes rodents unafraid of cats, may be reducing the fear of failure in people, Stefanie Johnson of the University of Colorado and colleagues said.

Puerto Rico Concedes Hurricane Maria Deaths Were More Than 1,400

Puerto Rico has conceded that Hurricane Maria killed more than 1,400 people on the island last year and not just the 64 in the official death toll.

The government acknowledged the higher death toll with no fanfare in a report submitted to Congress this week in which it detailed a $139 billion reconstruction plan for the island.

That quiet acknowledgement was first reported Thursday by The New York Times.

Thieves Steal Swedish Crown Jewels Before Fleeing By Speedboat

.

In a plot that could have come out of a heist movie, two men on Tuesday raided a Swedish cathedral and stole a set of 17th-century crown jewels, before fleeing the crime scene on a speedboat, according to police and Swedish news outlets.

The heist, in which the suspects took two crowns and a golden orb, happened around noon local time on Tuesday, at the Strängnäs Cathedral, located west of Sweden’s capital of Stockholm.

The crowns once belonged to King Karl IX and Queen Kristina, whose jewels are on display at the cathedral. The items had been displayed in a locked case equipped with an alarm, cathedral officials said in a statement.
