A new analysis from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention finds that people with chronic conditions including diabetes, lung disease, and heart disease appear to be at higher risk of severe illness from COVID-19.
The report finds 78% of COVID-19 patients in the U.S. requiring admission to the intensive care unit had at least one underlying condition. And 94% of hospitalized patients who died had an underlying condition. The analysis is a preliminary snapshot based on data from about 7,000 cases in the U.S. and about 200 deaths.
“These results are consistent with findings from China and Italy,” the CDC researchers conclude in a report published in the MMWR, the Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report, on Tuesday. These findings “highlight the importance of COVID-19 prevention in persons with underlying conditions,” the paper concludes.

An old physician,Doctor Gordon Geezer , became very bored in retirement and decided to re-open a medical clinic.

He put a sign up outside that said: ” Dr. Geezer’s Clinic . Get your treatment for $500 – if not cured, get back $1,000.”

DoctorDigger Young , who was positive that this old geezer didn’t know beans about medicine, thought this would be a great opportunity to get $1,000. So he went toDr. Geezer’s clinic.

Dr. Young : ” Dr. Geezer , I have lost all taste in my mouth. Can you please help me?”
.
Dr. Geezer : “Nurse, please bring medicine from the box 22 and put 3 drops in Dr. Young’s mouth.”
.
Dr. Young : ‘Aaagh! — This is Gasoline!”
.
Dr. Geezer : ” Congratulations !
You’ve got your taste back. That will be $500.”
.
Dr. Young gets annoyed and goes back after a couple of days figuring to recover his money
.
Dr. Young : “I have lost my memory, I cannot remember anything.”
.
Dr. Geezer : “Nurse, please bring medicine from box 22 and put 3 drops in the patient’s mouth.”
.
Dr. Young : “Oh, no you don’t — that is Gasoline!”
.
Dr. Geezer : ” Congratulations! You’ve got your memory back. That will be $500.”
.
Dr. Young (after having lost $1000) leaves angrily and comes back after several more days.
.
Dr. Young : “My eyesight has become weak — I can hardly see anything!”
.
Dr. Geezer : “Well, I don’t have any medicine for that so, “Here’s your $1000 back” (giving him a $10 bill).
.
Dr. Young : “But this is only $10!”
.
Dr. Geezer : ” Congratulations! You got your vision back! That will be $500.”
.
* Moral of story * — Just because you’re “Young” doesn’t mean that you can outsmart an “old Geezer” .
.
*Remember:* Don’t make old people mad. We don’t like being old in the first place, so it doesn’t take much to annoy us.

To go to the store, they said a mask and gloves were enough…they lied…everyone else had clothes on.
20 years ago we had Johnny Cash, Bob Hope and Steve Jobs. Now we have no cash, no hope, and no jobs.
Day 12 without sports. I found a lady sitting on my couch. Apparently, she’s my wife. She seems nice.
Gas is finally affordable and we can’t go anywhere.
That moment when you’re worried about the elderly and realize that YOU are the elderly.
We thought we’d have flying cars by 2020. But no, here we are teaching people how to wash their hands.
Our cleaning lady just called and told us she will be working from home and will send us instructions on what to do.
This virus must be wrecking India. I haven’t gotten one phone call in 3 days about my credit card.
