The record-shattering mission of the U.S. Air Force’s robotic X-37B space plane is finally over.
After circling Earth for an unprecedented 718 days, the X-37B touched down Sunday (May 7) at the Shuttle Landing Facility at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida — the first landing at the SLF since the final space shuttle mission came back to Earth in July 2011. The landing occurred at 7:47 a.m. EDT (1147 GMT).
“Today marks an incredibly exciting day for the 45th Space Wing as we continue to break barriers,” Air Force Brig. Gen. Wayne Monteith, the 45th SW commander, said in a statement. “Our team has been preparing for this event for several years, and I am extremely proud to see our hard work and dedication culminate in today’s safe and successful landing of the X-37B.”

Prosecutors were preparing murder charges on Monday in the brutal slaying of two engaged doctors at their penthouse apartment in Boston against the alleged killer — an ex-convict who authorities believe knew of the couple.
Lina Bolaños, 38, and Richard Field, 49, were found dead at a luxury condominium in South Boston on Friday — reportedly with their throats slit and their hands bound — by police responding to a call of a man with a gun on Friday night.
The Boston Police Department said the suspect “immediately began firing” after encountering the officers at around 8:38 p.m. The officers shot back, and wounded the suspect, 30-year-old Bampumim Teixeira, who was taken into custody after the violent struggle and hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.

A little girl has become a viral sensation for confronting a man impersonating President Donald Trump.
“You’re a disgrace to the world,” the unidentified child said.
Some people on social media were under the impression the girl was insulting Trump himself. However, the man in the video was Anthony Atamanuik, who hosts “The President Show” on Comedy Central as Trump.
It’s not clear if she knew it was Atamanuik, or thought it was the real Trump ― but the impersonator said on Twitter that the moment was spontaneous and unplanned.
“I watched her form it in her mind right in front of me,” he wrote. “She should be a new resistance meme!”
Atamanuik also called her “brave, funny and smart.”

There’s something weird about this photograph featuring President Donald Trump, but you might not have noticed it at first glance.
It appears to just show Trump and Congressional Republicans celebrating in the White House Rose Garden, after the House passed a measure to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act on Thursday:

President Trump signed an executive order “promoting free speech and religious liberty” on Thursday. The final version of the order addresses two issues. First, it instructs the Internal Revenue Service to “not take any adverse action against any individual, house of worship, or other religious organization” that endorse or oppose candidates from the pulpit, which is currently outlawed by a provision typically referred to as the Johnson Amendment. “We are giving churches their voices back,” Trump said during a ceremony in the Rose Garden. Second, it instructs the Departments of Treasury, Labor, and Health and Human Services to consider amending regulations in the Affordable Care Act that require most employers to cover contraception in employee insurance plans. A number of religious non-profit organizations have been litigating their objections to this requirement.
The order directs the government “to vigorously enforce Federal law’s robust protections for religious freedom.” It’s a first step toward fulfilling Trump’s campaign promises to social conservatives, but the order is much less aggressive than many religious-liberty advocates had hoped. In February, a supposed draft of an executive order on religious issues was leaked to The Nation. That version—reportedly written by a staffer with the D.C. office of the First Liberty Institute, a Texas law firm that focuses on First Amendment issues—contained provisions designed to protect religious organizations and individuals who speak out against same-sex marriage, transgender identity, and pre-marital sex. It was a menu of sorts, a list of possible issues Trump could address from the Oval Office early in his tenure as president. While Trump has earned the support of a number of high-profile religious conservatives, others are deeply unhappy with the president’s first big move on what they see as religious-liberty issues.

A government official close to the negotiations told CNN the freed girls are in military custody in Banki, a town in northeast Nigeria.
They will be transferred to the capital, Abuja, where they will have medical checks and be reunited with their families.
They are believed to be among the 276 girls, ages 16 to 18, forced from their beds by Boko Haram militants in the middle of the night in April 2014. The kidnapping from a boarding school in the town of Chibok sparked global outrage and the social media movement #BringBackOurGirls.
.
“I am very, very excited with this development. I cannot even sleep tonight,” said Yana Galang, whose daughter, Rifkatu, was among the girls kidnapped.
.
Galang said they don’t yet know who has been released, “but we’re very happy that many have been freed.”

House Republicans have finally fulfilled their years-long pledge to repeal and replace Obamacare.
The legislation, titled the American Health Care Act, now moves to the Senate, where it will likely change a lot when or if it lands on President Trump’s desk. But it’s already possible to identify who will get helped and who will get hurt by the bill.
The legislation calls for providing refundable tax credits based on a person’s age and income. It allows states to waive some protections for those with pre-existing conditions, while letting insurers charge higher rates to older consumers and levy a 30% surcharge on the premiums of those who let their coverage lapse.
The bill also eliminates the enhanced federal match for Medicaid expansion starting in 2020 and curtails federal support for the entire Medicaid program, which covers about one in five Americans. And it lifts the taxes that Obamacare had imposed on the wealthy, insurers and companies.

India’s Supreme Court on Friday upheld a lower court’s decision to sentence the men to death.
The judgment met with applause in the courtroom, according to CNN affiliate News18.
“We are very happy that (the) Supreme Court has heard our voice, and that they understood Nirbhaya’s pain in this matter, and that along with Nirbhaya the whole country has found justice,” the victim’s father, Badrinath Singh, told reporters outside the court, using a nickname for his daughter that means “fearless one.”
.
“We need to work so that the type of crime that happened to Nirbhaya will not happen again,” Asha Singh, the victim’s mother, said at a press briefing.
“This fight is not ours alone. This is every man’s fight. This is everyone’s fight. This is every woman’s fight.”
