And they did it in style, with 19,596 souls at sold-out Oracle Arena spending the fourth quarter standing and staring and screaming.
The Warriors, considered by many as a Super Team, derided by some as Super Villains, are Super Champions.
With Kevin Durant scoring a team-high 39 points and Stephen Curry tossing in 34, the Warriors outlasted a resilient Cavaliers team 129-120 in Game 5 of the NBA Finals Monday night to win their second title in three years.
Andre Iguodala fired in 20 points off the bench, Klay Thompson had 11 and Draymond Green added 10, along with a team-high 11 rebounds as the Warriors concluded the postseason at 16-1, the highest postseason win percentage in NBA history.
A nationwide manhunt is underway for two Georgia inmates who allegedly shot and killed two correctional officers before escaping in a Honda Civic early Tuesday, according to police.
Donnie Russell Rowe, 43, and Ricky Dubose, 24, allegedly overpowered two state correctional officers who were driving a bus transporting inmates, officials said during a press conference. Police said the fugitives then allegedly carjacked a “grass green” four-door Honda Civic and fled the scene.
The bus was on Georgia Highway 16 between Eatonton and Sparta, about 75 miles south of Atlanta.
The Georgia Department of Corrections later identified officers Christopher Monica, 42, and Curtis Billue, 58, as the two officers who were shot and killed. Monica had been with the force for more than seven years and Billue had served for nearly a decade, according to police.

He was sentenced to 15 years in prison with hard labor after a tearful one-hour trial.
In a statement, the State Department said Warmbier was “en route to the U.S. where he will be reunited with his family,” adding it would have no further comment on his case, citing privacy concerns.
It said the department “continues to have discussions with [North Korea] regarding the three other American citizens who are detained.”
Warmbier’s parents told the Washington Post and the Associated Press that he was medically evacuated from the isolated nation in a coma. NBC News has attempted to reach Warmbier’s parents to confirm those reports. The student was evacuated via U.S. military base in Sapporo, Japan, the Post reported.

Leave it to Donald Trump to reinvent the Cabinet meeting.
The public portion of these gatherings of all of the president’s top advisers are usually staid affairs. Photographers are let in to take pictures. The president makes a very brief statement. A reporter shouts a question, unanswered. The end.
Donald Trump did something very different in his Cabinet meeting Monday.
.
First, he reviewed the various alleged successes of his first 143 days and made this remarkable claim: “Never has there been a president….with few exceptions…who’s passed more legislation, who’s done more things than I have.”
Um, ok. While Trump has signed a number of executive orders and actions — the most high profile of which, the so-called “travel ban” was, again, blocked by a court on Monday — what he hasn’t really done is pass actual legislation through Congress. The health care bill is tied up in Senate machinations. Tax reform hasn’t moved an inch. Funding for the border wall hasn’t happened. And so on.
Snapping your squad all at once is super easy. Instead of manually sending the same snaps to multiple people, Snapchat allows you to create groups. Each group can accommodate up to 16 users.
But for the Pittsburgh Penguins, it was a thing of beauty.
The Penguins became the first repeat Stanley Cup champion in the salary cap era on Sunday night, thanks to Patric Hornqvist‘s goal with 95 seconds left for a 2-0 win over the Predators in Game 6.
The attorneys general of Maryland and Washington, D.C., plan to file a “major lawsuit” against President Donald Trump as early as Monday, they said Sunday night.
Maryland Attorney General Brian Frosh and his D.C. counterpart, Karl Racine, didn’t disclose the focus of the litigation, which they said in a statement they would formally announce Monday afternoon.
The Washington Post reported that the lawsuit would allege that Trump has violated constitutional anti-corruption restrictions by accepting payments and benefits from foreign governments since he became president.
No further details were immediately available.

Get ready for a show. NASA’s launching a rocket Monday night that will leave a trail of colorful, fake clouds looming over the East Coast.
The clouds, which will possibly take over skies from New York to California, will also be visible from a live broadcast from NASA starting at 8:30 p.m. Eastern.
Skies will be painted glowing blue-green and red colors by a sounding rocket, which will release 10 soda can-sized canisters into the air to form the clouds. The rocket will launch from the Wallops Flight Facility in Virginia sometime between 9:04 and 9:19 p.m. Eastern, if all goes as planned, and the flight will last just eight minutes.

Adam West, star of the popular and campy 1960s “Batman” TV show, died Friday night after “a short but brave battle with leukemia,” his family said in a statement. He was 88.
In a signature role, West played Bruce Wayne and his alter ego, the crime-fighting, costumed Batman, a popular comics character who came to life on the ABC-TV series. The show, with a catchy — some might say aggravating — theme song, earned a cult following.
.
The series lasted three seasons and enjoyed a long afterlife in syndication.
West later supplied the voice of Mayor Adam West, the oddball leader of Quahog, Rhode Island, on the animated series “Family Guy.”
When death comes to Cleveland, it’s far more likely to be packing a needle than a gun.
Just since June 1, there have been 41 reported drug fatalities in the city and surrounding suburbs, the Cuyahoga Medical Examiner confirmed Friday.
By contrast, there have been 42 homicides in Cleveland all of this year — 38 of them by gunfire.
And with 248 heroin/fentanyl overdoses now on the books for 2017, the county — including Cleveland — is easily on pace to eclipse last year’s total death toll of 312 for those kinds of overdoses, officials reported.
