The Syrian government has carried out a state policy of extermination against thousands of detainees, UN human rights investigators say.
They accuse President Bashar al-Assad’s regime of crimes against humanity, in a report for the UN Human Rights Council.
The study says both loyalist and anti-government forces have committed possible war crimes.
Many detainees were tortured, some were beaten to death, and others died from lack of food, water, or medical care.

When a dog steps on the paddle it sprays a jet of water into the pet’s face

Never mind heat wave, how’s this for a brain wave: an Illinois-based design company has created a paw-activated water fountain for dogs.
The Doggie Fountain, dubbed Koolinator, attaches to a standard garden hose and provides thirsty pets with a supply of fresh running water to help them keep cool in hot weather.
It can also be used in place of a water bowl to make sure your pets are not left without a drink when you’re at work, especially with the hot temperatures set to continue.

Until a couple of years ago I didn’t even realise that a freshwater fish could grow this large. But in the Fraser River system, in British Columbia Canada these monsters have been protected since the 1970′s. They were almost fished to extinction back then until the government did a great thing and protected them. There are stories from back in the day about how large they can grow, apparently up to about 18 feet, but the largest one caught recently was 12 feet, near Chilliwack, BC.
They are very long living, and slow growing, so it stands to reason that these fish are only starting to get large again after they were almost killed off in the 70s. The 12 footer was estimated to be about 100 years old, and it weighed over 1100 pounds.

On Thursday morning, City Creek Center, the first indoor mall built in nearly three years, opened its doors to the public. Its owner is the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which hopes that the $1.5 billion temple of consumption will redeem Salt Lake City’s blighted downtown, where the Church is also headquartered.
