President Donald Trump fired off a new attack on members of his own party Sunday, complaining on Twitter that Republicans don’t “protect” him.

He wrote:

Trump’s comment came shortly after a complaint about the investigation into the Russia scandal, which he once again labeled a “witch hunt.”

Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump filed disclosure documents on Friday that reveal new information about their extensive business holdings and investments that could be worth more than $762 million.

Kushner’s document updates one released four months ago and includes some previously undisclosed holdings that comprise some of the couple’s most valuable investments.

His interest in Cadre, a tech company that helps investors crowdfund real estate projects, is worth as much as $25 million. Kushner’s prior disclosure form listed Cadre’s parent company and its value, but it did not break out Cadre separately. The Wall Street Journal reported Kushner’s stake in Cadre in May.

The new forms, which include separate ones from Ivanka Trump for the first time, also disclose the couple’s art collection, valued at up to $25 million. Federal rules require only the disclosure of art held for investment purposes. The couple added the art to the form out of an abundance of caution, an attorney who helped Kushner and Trump prepare the forms said.

Washington Post: Sessions discussed Trump campaign with Russian ambassador, per intel intercepts

Attorney General Jeff Sessions met with the Russian Ambassador to the US Sergey Kislyak to discuss Trump campaign matters during the 2016 presidential election, according to US intelligence intercepts, The Washington Post reports.

According to the Post, Kislyak told his superiors in Moscow about two conversations he had with Sessions, which included a discussion on policy issues important to the Kremlin. Sessions was a foreign policy adviser to Trump and major campaign supporter at the time.

Sessions originally never disclosed any interactions he had with Kislyak, but a meeting first came to light in March when the Post reported that he met with Kislyak at an event during the Republican National Convention in Cleveland.

He could be out from behind bars as soon as Oct. 1 — but that doesn’t mean he’s walking out a free man.

“Parole is but one step out of the prison gate,” said Laurie Levenson, a Loyola Law School in Los Angeles professor and longtime Simpson case commentator.

Three gunmen opened fire at police near Jerusalem’s holiest site on Friday, killing two officers, before the attackers were taken out by security forces, Israeli police said.

The gunmen arrived at the sacred site, known to Muslims as the Noble Sanctuary and to Jews as Temple Mount, and walked toward one of the Old City gates nearby, police spokeswoman Luba Simri said.

“When they saw policemen they shot toward them and then escaped toward one of the mosques in the Temple Mount compound,” Simri said. “A chase ensued and the three terrorists were killed by police.”

White House press secretary Sean Spicer resigned Friday morning, according to three White House officials.

Spicer’s resignation came after New York financier and former Trump campaign fundraiser Anthony Scaramucci accepted the position as White House communications director.

A White House official and top GOP adviser said President Donald Trump asked Spicer to stay on, but he resigned.

Can President Trump pardon himself?

Late Thursday, The Washington Post reported that President Donald Trump is seeking to understand his pardon power, a development that seems directly linked to the ongoing special counsel investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 election and possible collusion between the Trump campaign and the foreign power.

The Post raises the possibility of Trump pardoning top advisers, family members and even himself. Friday morning, John Dowd from Trump’s legal team called the Post story about Trump considering pardons “nonsense.”

But it is still a good question: Can he do that? To answer that question, I reached out to Brian C. Kalt. Kalt is a professor of law at Michigan State University and the author of a 2012 book entitled “Constitutional Cliffhangers: A Legal Guide for Presidents and Their Enemies.

Trump Asks About Pardons As Lawyers Look At Ways to Derail Mueller Probe

Lawyers for Donald Trump, spurred by the president’s own inquiries, are exploring his power to grant pardons — to aides, family and himself — as a means of undermining special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 election, The Washington Post reports.

The Post, citing an unnamed source familiar with the queries, said the president himself had asked advisers about the constitutional power, although another source noted that Trump sought only to further his understanding of the privilege.

Trump’s lawyers are also looking into Mueller’s potential conflicts of interests, perhaps as a way of removing him from the Justice Department’s investigation, according to a Post article that cited several of Trump’s legal advisers.
