BMW is developing a remote-control valet parking system for cars that can be operated by a smartwatch.
The sensor-filled BMW i3 car, which will be on display at the 2015 International CES in Las Vegas in January, integrates with smartwatch and can essentially self-park. According to the company, a driver could activate the “Remote Valet Parking Assistant” via an app, which then guides the vehicle to a parking spot all by itself.
The car works with the help of laser sensors that scan the surrounding environment so it can move without running into anything. It will work in tandem with a digital site plan, so the car has a map of the environment, too.

The Pebble was the smartwatch that started it all — and by “all” we mean a general interest in smartphone notifications on the wrist and a handful of “me too” devices from larger tech companies. Fittingly, the second-gen Pebble Steel comes boasting another distinction: It’s the first smartwatch a normal person might actually want to wear.
From the beginning, Pebble was designed purely as a smartphone aide. An unassuming two-tone, e-ink screen relayed notifications, text messages, and calls from your smartphone to your wrist using Bluetooth. It wasn’t much of a looker — “sporty” might be a charitable way of describing it — but at least the watch face was more reasonably sized than recent competitors like the Qualcomm Toq and Samsung Galaxy Gear.

With nearly a month to spare, startup Omate burst through its Kickstarter goal of US$100,000 this week and is on its way to shipping its TruSmart smartwatch in time for the holiday season.
More than $250,000 have been pledged so far toward the device, which is perhaps the closest thing yet to an Android smartphone that can be worn on a wrist.

Calling it “the biggest change to iOS since the introduction of the iPhone,” Apple CEO Tim Cook on Monday unveiled an operating system for iPhones and iPads that will radically overhaul how users’ touchscreens look.
The new system, iOS 7, was part of a two-hour presentation that included refreshed MacBook Airs, the announcement of an iTunes Radio streaming-music service and a sneak peek at a new Mac Pro that will be the most powerful computer Apple has ever made.
The keynote, kicking off Apple’s annual Worldwide Developer’s Conference, marked Apple’s first major product event in nine months. But it was short on blockbuster launches or surprises — no TV, no smartwatch and no upgrades to marquee products like the iPhone and iPad.
