Amy Schnitzler was tired.
Surgery and chemotherapy treatments for her breast cancer had knocked the energy right out of her and all she wanted to do was snuggle under the bedcovers all day.
But she got up, anyway.
“Even on my worst days, in terms of fatigue, if I just got up and did a little something, whether it be some light stretching, gentle yoga, just some yoga, that definitely made me feel better and it definitely made me able to greet the day,’ said Schnitzler, who is studying opera.
“It was just a matter of, ‘OK, I know you feel really tired right now, Amy. But if you just get up and do a little something, you’re going to feel better after’. And that has definitely been the case for me.”

Who benefits from the tax credits in the proposed Republican health care bill?
That depends on how old you are and how much income you make, but where you live would matter a lot, too.
Using Kaiser Family Foundation projections of the 2020 health care markets, NBC News mapped the winners and losers of the American Health Care Act relative to the Affordable Care Act.

Between spreading illnesses, ruining crops, and infesting our homes, insects have had a long, adversarial relationship with humans. But not all insects are pests — think bees — and if scientists and engineers have their way, several more species will soon become our unwitting allies.
In labs throughout the world, researchers are hacking the brains and bodies of insects, creating so-called “biobots” that can do their bidding. Just as insects have recently been hailed as a potential solution to our impending food security crisis, the shudder-inducing creatures may also save human lives in various other ways.
For example, crawling cyborg insects could someday explore disaster zones and aid in search-and-rescue operations. By effectively surveying areas inaccessible to rescue teams, these remote-controlled insects could help find people buried under collapsed buildings. Similarly, a mass of airborne biobots could quickly search forests, canyons, and other areas for missing hikers.

Hey, over here! Yes, you.
Look away from your Twitter feed and that email reminder and your phone alerts and Facebook notifications. Just for a minute, we promise.
We know multitasking has become the new default mode. But here’s the thing: You’re not as good at it as you think, and it’s terrible for your brain.

People who are obese have a greater risk of developing and dying from several types of cancer including malignancies of the breast, ovary, kidney, pancreas, colon, rectum and bone marrow, a research review confirms.
Cancer is a leading cause of death worldwide, and the prevalence of obesity has more than doubled over the past generation. Even though excess weight is thought to influence the odds of developing and dying from a wide variety of tumors, the study found “strong evidence” supporting this connection for just 11 cancers.
“Other associations could also be genuine, but there is still substantial uncertainty about them,” lead study author Dr. Maria Kyrgiou of Imperial College London said by email.
Globally, 1.9 billion adults are overweight or obese, according to the World Health Organization. Roughly four in 10 adults are overweight, and more than one in 10 are obese, a condition that increases the risk of heart disease, diabetes, kidney problems and joint disorders in addition to certain cancers.

Bomb threats were called in Tuesday at the offices of a prominent Jewish civil rights organization, while several other Jewish Community Centers and schools across the country were similarly targeted, police said.
This latest wave of at least nine anonymous threats was quickly denounced by politicians and Jewish leaders, and comes after a federal investigation led to one arrest in St. Louis last week.
“This is not ‘normal,'” Jonathan Greenblatt, the CEO of the Anti-Defamation League, said in a statement. “We will not be deterred or intimidated.”

Down dog is a resting pose. If it doesn’t feel that way, you have some adjusting to do.
Typically, people are bearing too much weight in their arms instead of their feet, and not reaching their chest back towards their thighs enough. Also, people tend to get “trapped in their traps” by squeezing their shoulders up to their ears. And if you don’t get your hands right, you could hurt your wrists, exacerbate carpal tunnel or worse.

SpaceX has shared scant details about its newly announced plan to send private citizens on a trip around the moon late next year.
The company hasn’t disclosed the space tourists’ identities or said how much they’ll pay for the chance to buzz the moon and go far beyond before returning to Earth. Nor did SpaceX say exactly what training the tourists will undergo or how they will occupy themselves during the week or so between lift-off from Kennedy Space Center’s near Cape Canaveral, Florida and their return to Earth.
But no matter what, the tourists are in for an experience almost beyond imagining.
So says Richard Garriott, an Austin, Texas-based video game entrepreneur who in 2008 became one of only a tiny handful of private citizens to go into space when he spent 12 days in low Earth orbit aboard the International Space Station.

The first man on the ground is Travis, a brawny Green Beret with a solemn demeanor. He scans the treeline, carbine at the ready, and the rest of the soldiers follow.
Three Ugandan troops lead the way as a trio of Americans disperse through the column, weapons at the ready.
On its surface, this is a simple mission. U.S. Army Special Forces, or Green Berets, have been ordered to “apprehend or remove” one of the world’s most notorious warlords from the battlefield, along with his top commanders.
