Why do some people seem immune to colds and flu? Follow these tips from real people and experts, and you can learn how to avoid them too.
Everyday mistakes can raise your risk of catching a cold and that includes touching surfaces that many, many other people have touched. A University of Arizonastudy found that a virus spreads to over 50 percent of surfaces and other employees within hours when a single person in an office is infected. Partha Nandi, MD, a leading physician and author of Ask Dr. Nandi, advises avoiding touching common surfaces when possible. Even after you wash your hands, ‘use a paper towel to turn off the faucet,’ he says.

One distressed bobcat found itself taking a rather longer journey that it anticipated, after being hit by a car and transported on a 50-mile road trip. The unlucky animal found itself caught in the grille of a woman’s Toyota Prius and was forced to travel with her to work through Gloucester, Virginia.
Workers from Richmond’s Animal Care and Control centre (RACC) helped the woman safely remove her feline passenger from the car, and took it to the Wildlife Centre of Virginia for a checkup.

Your nails are more than a thing to polish. They could be signals of serious health problems.
- It turns out, your fingernails can tell you a lot about your health.
- Low oxygen levels, nutritional deficiencies, and even arsenic poisoning can be determined by looking at your fingertips.
- Many common nail afflictions, such as deep ridges or the appearance of white spots, are completely harmless and normal.
For some people, nails are a fun body part to decorate. For others, they are barely given any thought. But what many people may not realize is that fingernails can hold important information about an individual’s health.

Slide 15 shown below is the Pufferfish.
Their scientific name, Tetraodontidae, refers to their unique set of four large teeth, which they use to crush shells of their prey, mostly crustaceans and mollusks. When threatened, they suck in water and puff themselves up to about three times their original size, fending off attackers. Most of the pufferfish species are poisonous, and a few are among the most poisonous vertebrates on the planet.

(GMA News Online)-Scientists have discovered a unique adaptation of the barbeled dragonfish: a functional, flexible head joint, the first and only example of its kind known to exist among fishes.
The joint connects the skull and vertebral column and allows the fish a much larger degree of maneuverability to ingest prey—as much as 120 degrees. That expanse allows the barbeled dragonfish to wholly ingest fish that are nearly identical in size.
The discovery was made after scientists studied specimens from the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History and five other natural history collections around the world. Their findings were published in the journal PLOS ONE on Wednesday (February 01).

Days after a video surfaced showing an Orange Coast College professor telling students that Donald Trump’s election was an “act of terrorism,” violent threats have forced the instructor to flee her home state of California.
Olga Perez Cox — who was secretly recorded by one of her students last month discussing the presidential election — received a flood of angry emails, phone calls and Facebook comments — some of which were violent and threatening, according to the Orange County Register.
An email Cox received said, “You want communism, go to Cuba . . . try to bring it to America and we’ll put a (expletive) bullet in your face,” according to the paper.
The threats didn’t end there, according to Rob Schneiderman, president of the Coast Federation of Educators/American Federation of Teachers Local 1911 that represents Cox.
