Thousands of former Trump University students will get most of their money back, with a judge on Friday approving a $25 million settlement.
“The settlement is fair, adequate, and reasonable,” Judge Gonzalo Curiel said in his decision.
Nearly 4,000 former students submitted claims and those who are eligible could get back about 90% of their money.
The settlement was agreed to last November, just 10 days after Donald Trump won the presidential election, but still needed court approval.
Trump University was created in 2005, and promised to teach students investing techniques they could use to get rich in real estate — just like Trump.
A “one-year apprenticeship” at Trump University cost $1,495, according to court documents, while a “membership” cost at least $10,000 and the “Gold Elite,” the seminar’s most expensive class, cost $35,000.

Obama administration officials were so concerned about what would happen to key classified documents related to the Russia probe once President Trump took office that they created a list of document serial numbers to give to senior members of the Senate Intelligence Committee, a former Obama official told NBC News.
The official said that after the list of documents related to the probe into Russian interference in the U.S. election was created in early January, he hand-carried it to the committee members. The numbers themselves were not classified, said the official.

On Friday morning, Republican leadership was still scrambling to whip up votes needed to pass their doomed health care bill, the American Health Care Act.
The legislation, which President Donald Trump endorsed as a conservative alternative to former President Barack Obama’s Affordable Care Act, was struggling to attract GOP support. Some feared the bill’s cut to Medicaid funding would have a negative impact on constituents; others worried it wasn’t conservative enough.
Chief among the hardliners were the members of the House Freedom Caucus, the far-right group of three dozen conservative lawmakers known for stirring up trouble, even among their own ranks.

Every winter, Norwegian marine biologist Andreas B. Heide sails north in search of whales, especially orcas. He’s not just there to document these incredible creatures from the boat, however—he jumps in and swims right along with them. Orcas are some of the most powerful and intelligent predators on the planet, but by approaching them with respect and establishing trust, Andreas has been able to gain perspective on how they live, interact, and even play. His hope is to increase awareness for conservation efforts by documenting his up-close-and-personal interactions with these surprisingly gentle giants.

We love a restorative shower for its day-starting, head-clearing, muscle-relaxing power. But that long, hot shower that starts your day might not be doing your skin any favors.
Too much hot water can actually be bad for our bodies, according to experts in hair and skin care. We asked several dermatologists to weigh in on the definitive way to take a shower.

A deal that North Carolina lawmakers reached to repeal the state’s controversial and costly “bathroom bill” passed on Thursday after a contentious debate — but the compromise has left LGBTQ advocates exasperated, with some calling it “shameful” and an “outrageous betrayal.”
Democratic Gov. Roy Cooper signed the bill into law just hours after the state’s House passed the bill 70-48 on Thursday afternoon after nearly two hours of heated debate.
The state’s Senate passed the bill by a 32-16 vote earlier in the day, after a deal was struck late Wednesday between the state’s new governor, who campaigned on fully repealing the HB2 bill, and North Carolina’s leading Republican lawmakers, who have supported the measure.

It’s been a little less than two months since Donald Trump took office, and the 45th president has already signed a dozen wide-ranging executive orders, hoping to fulfill a number of his campaign promises.
Surrounded by staff during Oval Office photo opportunities, Trump signed the burst of orders within just his first three weeks to undo many of President Barack Obama’s policies.

Spiders are quite literally all around us. A recent entomological survey of North Carolina homes turned up spiders in 100 percent of them, including 68 percent of bathrooms and more than three-quarters of bedrooms. There’s a good chance at least one spider is staring at you right now, sizing you up from a darkened corner of the room, eight eyes glistening in the shadows.
Spiders mostly eat insects, although some of the larger species have been known to snack on lizards, birds and even small mammals. Given their abundance and the voraciousness of their appetites, two European biologists recently wondered: If you were to tally up all the food eaten by the world’s entire spider population in a single year, how much would it be?
Martin Nyffeler and Klaus Birkhofer published their estimate in the journal the Science of Nature earlier this month, and the number they arrived at is frankly shocking: The world’s spiders consume somewhere between 400 million and 800 million tons of prey in any given year. That means that spiders eat at least as much meat as all 7 billion humans on the planet combined, who the authors note consume about 400 million tons of meat and fish each year.

In the annals of wrongful convictions, there is nothing that comes close in size to the epic drug-lab scandal that is entering its dramatic final act in Massachusetts.
About 23,000 people convicted of low-level drug crimes are expected to have their cases wiped away next month en masse, the result of a five-year court fight over the work of a rogue chemist.
“It’s absolutely stunning. I have never seen anything like it,” said Suzanne Bell, a professor at West Virginia University who serves on the National Commission of Forensic Science. “It’s unbelievable to me that it could have even happened. And then when you look at the scope of the number of cases that may be dismissed or vacated, there are no words for it.”

Thirteen people were dead and two others were injured after a pickup truck veered into a church van carrying senior citizens Wednesday afternoon in Texas, authorities said.
The driver of the pickup truck survived and was airlifted to a San Antonio hospital after the crash, which occurred about 12:23 p.m. (1:23 p.m. ET) near Garner State Park in Concan, Sgt. Conrad Hein of the state Department of Public Safety told NBC News.
The agency told NBC News that the van and the Dodge pickup were the only vehicles involved. All of the dead were from the bus, including its driver, as was the other injured person, authorities said.
Conditions and identities of none of the victims were made public Wednesday night.
