More than 190 Democratic lawmakers sued President Donald Trump in federal court on Wednesday, saying he had accepted funds from foreign governments through his businesses without congressional consent in violation of the U.S. Constitution.
The complaint said Trump had not sought congressional approval for any of the payments his hundreds of businesses had received from foreign governments since he took office in January, even though the Constitution requires him to do so.
The White House did not immediately respond to requests for comment but has said Trump’s business interests do not violate the Constitution. The Trump Organization has said it will donate profits from customers representing foreign governments to the U.S. Treasury but will not require such customers to identify themselves.

Newly elected French President Emmanuel Macron’s noticeably tense and lengthy handshake with Trump was a deliberate effort to “show that we won’t make little concessions, even symbolic ones,” he told a French outlet in an interview published Sunday. And as Spicer boasted of the president’s successful alliance-building, a picture of European heads of state openly mocking the U.S. president was making its way around Twitter. In a photograph that quickly went viral, the prime ministers of Denmark, Norway, Finland, Sweden and Iceland gathered around a soccer ball in a pose that bore an obvious resemblance to a recent picture of Trump and the heads of Egypt and Saudi Arabia placing their hands on a glowing orb to symbolize counterterrorism cooperation.

Chancellor Angela Merkel believes firmly in strong German – U.S. relations and is simply being honest with the United States when she flags up policy differences with Washington, her spokesman said on Monday.
Merkel sent shockwaves through Washington and London by saying on Sunday that Europe must take its fate into its own hands, implying that the United States under President Donald Trump and Britain after its Brexit vote were no longer reliable partners.
She made the comments after Trump criticized major NATO allies over their military spending and refused to endorse a global climate change accord at back-to-back summits last week.

Former House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) isn’t impressed with President Donald Trump.
Speaking at an energy conference in Houston on Wednesday, Boehner did praise Trump on foreign affairs and said he had stepped up the fight against the Islamic State militant group. But he generally gave a grim assessment of the president’s first few months in office, according to energy publication Rigzone.
“Everything else he’s done [in office] has been a complete disaster,” Boehner said. “He’s still learning how to be president.”
Boehner, who backed the businessman during the presidential campaign, criticized the Trump’s late-night tweets and said he hadn’t imagined him becoming commander-in-chief.
The former speaker, who retired from Congress in 2015, suggested investigations into Russian interference in the election were necessary, but said talk of impeaching Trump would only boost the president’s political support.
Two Harvard University scientists are suggesting that mysterious fast radio bursts, detected in faraway galaxies, may be evidence of aliens traveling through the cosmos.
FRBs are extremely bright flashes of radio waves that last for only a thousandth of a second and are detected by earthbound telescopes. Since the first one was observed 10 years ago, 17 have actually been reported, although scientists think there are thousands of them a day.
At first, Abraham “Avi” Loeb said, he took a conservative approach to explaining them.
“It looked like the simplest explanation would be flares from stars in the Milky Way galaxy,” said Loeb, a theoretical astrophysicist and chair of Harvard’s astronomy department.
But then “one of the FRBs was localized to reside in a small galaxy at a distance of about a billion light-years away,” Loeb told The Huffington Post. (One light-year is about 6 trillion miles.)

A little girl has become a viral sensation for confronting a man impersonating President Donald Trump.
“You’re a disgrace to the world,” the unidentified child said.
Some people on social media were under the impression the girl was insulting Trump himself. However, the man in the video was Anthony Atamanuik, who hosts “The President Show” on Comedy Central as Trump.
It’s not clear if she knew it was Atamanuik, or thought it was the real Trump ― but the impersonator said on Twitter that the moment was spontaneous and unplanned.
“I watched her form it in her mind right in front of me,” he wrote. “She should be a new resistance meme!”
Atamanuik also called her “brave, funny and smart.”

U.S. President Donald Trump waded into France’s presidential election on Friday, tweeting that he expected the killing of a policeman in central Paris to have an impact on Sunday’s vote.
Islamic State claimed responsibility for the fatal shooting late on Thursday of a French policeman on the Champs Elysees by a French national who lived in Paris.
“Another terrorist attack in Paris. The people of France will not take much more of this. Will have a big effect on presidential election!” Trump said on Twitter.
In an interview with The Associated Press, Trump said he thought the attack would “probably help” Le Pen. While both Trump and the White House made it clear that he was not endorsing Le Pen, he told the AP she would be “the candidate who is “strongest on borders, and she’s the strongest on what’s been going on in France.”
The attack prompted far-right presidential candidate Marine Le Pen to say on Friday that France should reinstate border checks and expel foreigners who are on the watch lists of intelligence services.

Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley (R) resigned from office Monday and pleaded guilty to two counts of violating campaign finance rules.
“I can no longer allow my family, my dear friends, my dedicated staff and cabinet to be subjected to consequences that my past actions have brought upon them,” he said at a Monday afternoon press conference.
“Though I have committed myself to working to improve the lives of the people of our state, there have been times that I have let you and our people down, and I’m sorry for that.”
Bentley’s resignation comes as the state’s House of Representatives begins hearings on his impeachment following allegations he abused his position as the state’s chief executive to cover up an affair with his former aide, Rebekah Caldwell Mason.
