A Boston-based engineering firm recently released plans for their new supersonic jet that will transport passengers from Los Angeles to Tokyo in five hours… and with no windows, but instead full-length digital screens that instantly turn every seat into a window seat.
The screens will show images relayed from tons of tiny cameras on the jet’s exterior. Real windows create complicated problems for plane design, so the jet’s creators said a slab of screens was the next best — and maybe the actual best — option.

A California mother’s instinct may have saved her newborn baby’s life.
When little Hope Juarez was born in Orange Country, Calif., last month, it was immediately clear that something was wrong. Hope was born as white as a ghost, and doctors realized that the baby had almost no blood in her body.
“She was crying and they brought her over to us and she was really pale,” Hope’s father, Josh Juarez, told local station ABC7. “I knew that something was really wrong when they started pricking at her feet trying to get blood to come out and there was no blood coming out.”
When a black hole swallows a star, things get violent. Very violent.
At least, that’s what scientists found in a new study when they used computer simulations to mimic the destruction of a star as it falls into a giant black hole. Just check it out in the video.
The simulations show that when the gravitational force of a supermassive black hole pulls in a star, the star is stretched into a long blob before it’s destroyed. About half of the star’s mass may get ejected as a stream of debris and the other half eventually may spiral into the black hole, forming what’s called an “accretion disk.”

Want to boost your eyesight? There’s an app for that.
In a new baseball study, researchers have found that training your brain with a perceptual learning app just may improve your vision.
The researchers tested the vision of baseball players at the University of California in Riverside. Then, during the 2013 NCAA Division 1 season, 19 of the players were given 25-minute brain-training sessions with an app called UltimEyes four days per week.
What did the researchers find when they did follow-up vision tests? The players who used UltimEyes reported significant improvements in seeing at a distance of 20 feet and farther, and “greater peripheral vision.” Some said that their “eyes feel stronger” and that it’s “easy to see further.”
Suspected Islamist fighters killed at least 90 people in an early morning attack on a village in remote northeast Nigeria on Sunday, witnesses said.
The Boko Haram gunmen surrounded the village of Izge, near the border with Cameroon, spraying it with bullets, setting off explosions and burning down dozens of houses, they said.
“As I am talking to you now, all the dead bodies of the victims are still lying in the streets,” resident Abubakar Usman told Reuters by telephone. “We fled without burying them, fearing the terrorists were still lurking in the bushes.”
Little Tikes’ Cozy Coupe — the red plastic, yellow-roofed model that’s been awkwardly piloted across suburban sidewalks by toddlers everywhere since 1979 — is now street legal. And it might help raise money for charity.
John Bitmead, a mechanic in Oxfordshire, England, spent about $6,600 and 1,000 hours over the course of five months converting a Daewoo Matiz into an adult version of the classic toy. His two-seat car runs on unleaded gasoline and can go from 0 to 60 MPH in 17 seconds. Not bad when the original runs on children’s foot power.
The restaurant industry, which employs one in 10 Americans, many of them earning low wages, says it can’t afford an increase in the federal minimum wage. On closer inspection, that argument isn’t as strong as it might seem.
While President Barack Obama’s proposal to raise the federal minimum wage to $10.10 an hour would increase costs for restaurants, it’s not clear how much. Labor makes up about one-third of restaurants’ total costs, but only 5 percent of restaurant workers earn the federal minimum wage, according to the National Restaurant Association. The average wage for non-supervisory restaurant workers is $9, which isn’t much below the president’s proposed level.
The black teen was killed in 2012 while sitting in a car with his friends outside a Jacksonville, Florida convenience store, listening to music.
That music was too loud for Michael Dunn. Following an argument over the volume, the 45-year-old man fired his gun into the carful of teenagers, killing Davis. Dunn told his fiancee the teens were playing “thug music.”
On the eve of Davis’ birthday, a mistrial was declared on the first-degree murder charge. The jury found Dunn guilty of attempted second-degree murder and a count of firing into an occupied car.

Ten years after becoming the winner of “American Idol’s” second season, Ruben Studdard has released his 6th studio album this month entitled, “Unconditional Love.”
The 11-track opus finds the Birmingham, Alabama native collaborating with the likes of Eric Benét, Lalah Hathaway, and world renown producer-musician, David Foster. And though the 35-year-old crooner is celebrating his ten year “American Idol” anniversary in May, he has no qualms about the show being referenced as his claim to fame.
“For a boy from Alabama who had no idea of how to enter the music industry after getting no responses to the demos I was sending in, it was a great blessing,” he said during a recent interview with Billboard. “It’s a six-month music industry crash course. But what you learn quickly after leaving the show is that the industry is and isn’t ‘American Idol.’ A.I. is a huge pop show, but the urban market is completely different. Still, the show was first class from the time I stepped off the plane.”
