Him?
The most popular young artist in the most unpopular young nation is a rhinestone cowboy who looks like he crawled out of a primordial swamp of nacho cheese. Post Malone is a Halloween rental, a removable platinum grill, a Cubic Zirconium proposal on the jumbo screen of a last-place team.
His music — one of the shallowest bastardizations of rap to date, and I don’t say that lightly — has the creative tension of associates at a downtown law firm complaining that $150,000 a year just doesn’t cut it. He looks like he got clubbed over the head by a cartoon peacock. He just turned 23.

At least 11 people died and dozens were injured in strong tornadoes that swept through the Dallas area and caused substantial damage this weekend, while 13 people died in flooding in the Midwest.
It was the latest of a succession of powerful weather events across the country, from heavy snow in New Mexico, west Texas and the Oklahoma Panhandle to flooding in parts of the Plains and Midwest. Days of tumultuous weather have led to 43 deaths overall — those in Texas, plus five in Illinois, eight in Missouri and 19 in the Southeast.
The full extent of damage from Saturday’s storms along a nearly 40-mile stretch near Dallas came into clear focus. Local officials estimated as many as 1,450 homes were damaged or destroyed. Vehicles were mangled, power lines fell and trees were toppled. Heavy rain, wind and falling temperatures hampered cleanup efforts Sunday afternoon.

In May, waters around Dallas rose above normal levels. The Trinity River, which runs through the city, had retained so much rainfall that its depth more than doubled to 40 feet by the end of the month. Among the destroyed homes and human lives lost, wildlife were also affected by the rising waters.
Andrés Ruzo, a geoscientist and National Geographic explorer, captured this image of a recently deceased fish who’d gotten carried away by the floodwater — and, sadly, lodged in a fence.
The fish is part of a 100-million-year-old species. And even though he has a bit of a monstrous appearance, he’s of course not a river monster at all. He’s a juvenile longnose gar, a freshwater fish with a sizable population of over 100,000 adults in North America. Though other subspecies of gar can reach up to 10 feet long, this particular fish is 2 feet, which is about the subspecies’s average size.

The death toll climbed to five on Monday after a devastating storm system rolled through Texas and Arkansas, spawning at least one tornado in a city east of Dallas where homes were reduced to splinters.
At least eight people were still unaccounted for in Van, Texas. Authorities said they were still not sure whether one or two tornadoes had struck the city, but they estimated that almost a third of the city had sustained damage.
Two people were killed in Van when the tornado struck Sunday night, authorities said. Two more were killed at a mobile home park in Arkansas, and a fifth died in a flood in Corsicana, Texas, where 10 inches of rain fell in five hours.

A distinctive-looking bot on wheels with sensors and cameras could one day play the role of beat cop — but first, it will help find you a parking spot.
The robot’s unique design was a deliberate attempt to make an “incredibly friendly” robot, Stacy Stephens marketing chief at Knightscope, which builds the bots, told NBC News.
Anticipating people’s unease at encountering an all-seeing watcher bot, cute factor was key. “We wanted to be more like R2D2 and much less like Terminator or Robocop,” Stephens, who was a beat cop in Dallas for three years, said.
The result is a 5-foot tall, 300 lb. robot named K5, which ran through some autonomous abilities at a demo last week.
