23/11/2014- I left South East Asia after almost 18 months of teaching in Thailand, and travelling around its neighbouring countries.
I did a lot, I saw a lot.
If you get the chance, just do it!
My main tip to people who are thinking about moving to Thailand and teaching is not to believe a lot of the negative experiences written online about it. Sure it isn’t perfect, but life isn’t, is it? The majority of people you meet have an avalanche of pro’s that outweigh their con’s. And just remember, a lot depends on the type of person you are.
My experience inspired me to teach and travel my way around the world (hence this site and its title), which is what I have been doing since I left. It’s hard to believe that as I write this I have been in Korea for almost 6 months already.
Yes I know this isn’t my usual song however I couldn’t help but prove my friend wrong who said there was no way I could pull this off.. I say if you can’t have fun, then you don’t know how to live. The key is to not take yourself to seriously.
Because you know I’m all about that bass,
‘Bout that bass ’bout that bass, no treble
I’m all ’bout that bass, ’bout that bass, no treble
I’m all ’bout that bass, ’bout that bass, no treble
I’m all ’bout that bass, ’bout that bass
Yeah it’s pretty clear, I ain’t no size two But I can shake it, shake it like I’m supposed to do ‘Cause I got that boom boom that all the boys chase All the right junk in all…
You can either be judged because you created something or ignored because you left your greatness inside of you.” Criticism and negativity from other people is like a wall. And if you focus on it, then you’ll run right into it. You’ll get blocked by negative emotions, anger, and self-doubt. Your mind will go where your attention is focused. Criticism and negativity don’t prevent you from reaching the finish line, but they can certainly distract you from it.
If you’re dealing with criticism, then don’t let the wall keep you from seeing the road. Focus on the path ahead. Another way I heard it put recently, “Ignore the boos. They usually come from the cheap seats.”
If you choose to respond to the haters, then surprise them with kindness. You might just win a new fan while you’re at it.
Finally, and most importantly, make the choices that are right…
This week’s slaughter of nine people in a South Carolina church left prospects that Congress will curb guns right where they’ve been for years — remote for now, according to lawmakers and activists on both sides of the issue.
Conceding that congressional action was unlikely soon, President Barack Obama said lawmakers will tighten federal firearms restrictions when they believe the public is demanding it.
“I am not resigned,” Obama told the U.S. Conference of Mayors in San Francisco on Friday. “I have faith we will eventually do the right thing.”

The message was crushingly loud and clear: Stop the illicit ivory trade.
And to highlight it, the United States destroyed more than a ton of elephant ivory in New York’s Times Square on Friday.
Lawmakers, wildlife officials, conservationists and bystanders watched the ivory turn into sand-like powder as an industrial rock crusher descended on carvings and raw tusks.
We’ve had software as a service, platform as a service and data as a service. Now, by mixing them all together and massively upscaling the amount of data involved, we’ve arrived at Big Data as a Service (or BDaaS, and it’s pronounced how you will).
It might not be a term you’re familiar with yet, but it suitably describes a fast-growing new market. In the last few years many businesses have sprung up offering cloud-based Big Data services to help other companies and organizations solve their data dilemmas.
Some estimate that the portion of business IT spending that is cloud-based, x-as-a-service activity will increase from about 15% today to 35% by 2021. Given that it is estimated that the global Big Data market will be worth $88 billion by that point, we can see that the forecast value of the BDaaS market could be $30 billion.

Andre McPherson has been coming to the Emanuel AME Church here off and on since 2003. His visit on Thursday night was his first in a couple of years, he said with a hint of guilt, but he felt he owed it to the church leaders and congregation to stop by.
In his more trying days when he was homeless, McPherson said, he often found himself at the doorstep of what’s known as “Mother Emanuel.” The Charleston resident credits the historic African-American church with helping him get off of drugs.
“This church helped me get me life together,” McPherson, 44, said through tears. “It helped me go back to my kids. It helped me get away from a certain street mentality. It helped me have pride.”
