Our human lineage is not actually linear. In fact, it’s more of a branching tree, telling the story of our origins in Africa and our migrations throughout the world. National Geographic’s not-for-profit Genographic Project aims to trace and connect each of our individuals branches to answer questions about how human beings became so genetically diverse.

But how can we peer so far back in history? By looking at our DNA. In fact, DNA analysis can reveal specific markers that tell the rich story of our ancestral migration patters. It can even inform us about our mixed Neanderthal origins.

We have a saying in Bengali- “Baro mashe tero parbon” which literally means we celebrate “thirteen festivals in twelve months”. Though the majority of population in India follow Hinduism (considered the oldest religion in the world), there is a good mix of people following other religions. This means you have some festival or other being celebrated through the year. So, if you ask me, 13 festivals in 12 months is a very conservative statement!

So it has been several months since we heard about what we can expect in the near future with regards to how Glass will shape it, and Google have jumped on the case revealing their latest technology “Google Glass”.

Now, many stories have evolved since this product was revealed to the world, such as Apple looking to release their own version, as well as stories that Microsoft could be developing their own glasses. This comes to no surprise seeing that there is very little creativity left in the world and everybody seems to be following one trend at a time.
